Gibson's rectangular fret inlays are underrated, and that goes for the Les Paul as well as the SG.

Is that yours?
>>
>>129483990
How are they underrated when they're the premium option and sought after
>>
>"Mother of toilet seat" refers to a type of plastic material known as pearloid, which resembles mother-of-pearl and is often used in musical instruments like guitar pickguards. It got its nickname from its use in making toilet seats in the early 20th century.
Mother of toilet seat.
>>
what do fret inlays have to do with music /fa/ is that way
>>
>>129485829
No, I ripped that pic off Reddit. It's nice though.

>>129485945
Because I can barely find any on Gibson's website, and they don't have one in the color I want. (It isn't even that obscure.)

They don't have as wide of a selection of guitars with rectangular frets. If I have to go through their custom order thing just to change one or two things, it's probably gonna more expensive than it's worth... right?

i find Gibson's limited and their whammy meme bar sucks. Fender is superior especially the Strat

Do a simple search. It isn't a secret. Early models were nitro cellulose. I'm not sure of any changes over the years. And I worked in a Gibson factory. I don't specifically remember putting those in, though I covered for a vacancy in the fingerboard dept a time or two. If you only knew how much superglue go in those things.....
>>
Go all the way. Get a full mother of toilet seat fretboard.
>>
>>129486709
They never made toilet seats out of pearloid though, and not even plain ol' nitrocellulose either, for some reason.

>If you only knew how much superglue go in those things.....
I've just seen a video on that, it's cursed:

What about Bixby? I'm still too new to this and too poor to have cared about looking up the differences yet.

All I know is it's THICCER, so it MUST be better, right!?

Grim.

Google "Les Paul Custom"
>>
Pearl trapezoids are the best
>>
>>129487184
Okay, you don't think it just looks better?...
>>
>>129487189
And then?... They don't have any in British Racing Green, and whatever they do have in that color doesn't have rectangular frets, even though it's a custom.
>>
>>129487243
No I think it's redundant and makes it look worse.

Fret 12 doesn't need to have a double marker either, not even on the side.
>>
>>129486127
Who cares?
Besides the inlays are made of acrylic

They never even made toilet seats out of nitrocellulose, I don't know where he's getting that from.
>>
>>129483990
>underrated
they're hugely overrated. it just looks like someone slapped a post-it over the fret. it's especially egregious on the bigger frets. I'd rather have anything else.
>>
>>129487258
You have to call their custom shop and order one made to your specifications; hence, "custom." No idea how long that takes, but probably at least 6-8 mos.
>>
>>129491884
but tawking to peepo is scawee...
>>
>>129491873
>I'd rather have anything else.
Can you play a fretless guitar?
>>
>>129491884
I mean, they have the Les Paul Custom, and then they have custom Les Pauls. The single word "custom" isn't exactly mutually exclusive.
>>
>>129492069
The only way you can have a custom Les Paul Custom is by placing an order with their Custom Shop. Your Sweetwater Sales Engineer can help you out in this regard, and is waiting to take your call.

>The only way you can have a custom Les Paul Custom is by placing an order with their Custom Shop.
You can also have a non-custom Les Paul Custom, ironically:

>>
>>129491873
what does fretless have to do with inlays?
>>
>>129492032
>>129493122
>>
>>129493122
You said "anything else". What about a blender? That is also "anything else".

But for the sake of not being pedantic, what about frets with no fret markers?
