>ooooooh yeah I'm rocking out so hard bro
>watch me thrust my hips in the air while I hold this guitar
>now I'm going to hunch over and do these super exaggerated strumming motions like I'm trying to start a lawnmower
>better randomly twist my body around and swing the neck of the guitar for no reason
Fucking stand still and play the song you fucking faggot. Literally no different to DJs pressing play on a macbook and pretending to fiddle with nobs and switches while head-bobbing for no reason.

Seriously, why was this shit normalised?
Give me one goddamn fucking reason why they can't just stand still and play the song.

If you have a band sitting still like a bunch of wooden poles, the audience will get bored quickly

Crowds love that shit. The average person is stupid. They hear with their eyes. It makes people think their is something going on. Go look at the Ramones pose. Posturing without substance. It works. Embrace theatrics and profit.

Eric Clapton rarely did this after he quit drugs and sobered up. Maybe it’s a drugs thing.

Clapton is one of the greatest of the greats

I went to an Oasis comcert like 15 years ago and all they did was stand around playing the songs and it was the boring fucking concert Ive ever seen, could have stayed home and listened to Stop The Clocks insteads of dealing with faggots in the crowd pretending to be british

Imagine caring about visuals in a sonic medium

this. unless they have a really cool light show (which these days is rare, usually it's just a big fuckin' screen with closeups of the sweaty-ass musicians playing), I close my eyes and try to listen as deep as possible to the music.

What's the point of going to see a concert if you're not going to "see" anything or interact with anyone around you.
If you just want the sensation of listening to music, you could just listen to the albums at home. You can even get a few drinks to get buzzed while sitting around in your house
Talking to other people or even just dancing with other people at a concert is one of the most fun parts of it

If you're standing around a concert with your eyes closed, you're going to become a safety hazard. Or someone will bump into you at some point and you'll fall over
>live music is exactly like pre-recorded music if you close your eyes
>your home stereo is just like a concert PA
A lot of the time, live music is going to sound slightly worse than an album, especially if you care about the small details. If you genuinely want the "best" experience listening to a song, the pre-recorded version on an actual dedicated device is going to sound better than live
>talking to people at concerts is more important than shutting up and listening to the music
More like don't stand around with your eyes closed. Absolute worst case scenario, security thinks you're high off your tits and confronts you over it

zomg wow, what a take. Jesus christ, that's quite possibly the stupidest thing I've ever read on the internet, leddit included. It sounds like you've never been to an actual musical performance, or really truly don't understand what music is, other than your autism says that you should cling to the familiar "album" version of something and call it "better". I pity you anon, for real, that you've never heard a band that's better live than in the studio. I'm older, and have seen a fuckton of bands and literally the only band I've ever seen whose music is worse live than in the studio was Motely Crue. Jesus christ they sucked. There I kept my eyes open, because at least lasers & pyro made it entertaining.

>Or someone will bump into you at some point and you'll fall over because you're standing there with your eyes closed
literally has never happened

>security thinks you're high off your tits and confronts you over it
also literally has never happened

That's because they can't play or hit the notes. I think you're confusing two different issues here or you're just assuming that louder makes better
>other than your autism
I was going to hold back on saying it, but I don't think the person standing around in a crowd with his eyes closed to "hear the music better" is in any position to call someone else autistic. I thought that was a lowblow so I didn't bother mentioning it
>I pity you anon, for real, that you've never heard a band that's better live than in the studio.
Are you thinking exclusively of bands struggling to get a good sound across on their studio albums in the 70s or something?
>literally has never happened
Now you're just lying. If you've never had someone hit into you at a concert, you're either lying or you're only going to concerts where the average age of the concert goer is 50+
>also literally has never happened
You've never seen security pull someone over?

for roughly the same reason most people don't get their diploma in the mail. it's really exciting just to move on from yet another day of practice. sure some people are deliberately clowns but it's hard not to feel that kind of released energy from both the effort and the nervousness once things get going.
