Why do people say this album is for people who don't like metal? It's pretty fucking metal.

idk if anyone says it's for people who DON'T like metal but it's a great gateway album if you wanna get into progressive death metal
Who has made that claim? People would more likely claim its an album for people who don't like death metal since it's a power metal album that Nuclear Blast forced to be sold as death metal

>Sound of Perseverance (Roadrunner, 1998) is far less inventive. The band is technically impeccable, but the material is just weak. Spirit Crusher, Flesh And The Power It Holds, To Forgive are pleasant, but nothing we haven't heard before.

Scream Bloody Gore is a really fun deathrash album, Leprosy is a nasty af death metal album that literally feels diseased, and Symbolic is the template for tech-death. This on the other hand is so proggy that a lot of death metal fans still struggle to get into it. Schuldiner was a genius musician though

>>129521516Don't know if it is the weakest or not but it is one of the most rememberable metal albums. Sure there is a lot of riff salad, but those riffs really stick in your head. It also has Spirit Crusher

It's simply lacks in all the characteristics death metal listeners usually look for in death metal. that says nothing about the overall quality of the album, but through a purely death metal lens it is weak.
