Is this actually a good album?

>>129585566HEYWAITI GOT A NEW COMPLAINT
>>129585566how about you listen to it and decide for yourself
This one is.
>>129586672I did and honestly I can't seem to decide if it is or not. I know people say it belongs on the same level as Nevermind, and it has good songs, but it doesn't seem Grunge at all or seem to do anything revolutionary that wasn't done before. I really like Why Go and Porches.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5QtvpucmEWA
>>129585566eh
>>129585566Yeah. If it filters you then you DEFINITELY won't dig the albums after it. Imo Pearl Jam didn't make bad music they just didn't have a clear identity and tried to imitate what was popular.
>>129585566Yes. It's a 10/10>>129586900>but it doesn't seem Grunge at allLiterally retarded. You can draw a straight line between the guitar work on Ten back to Green River.
theyre high fiving on the cover? are you kidding me?
>>129585566battle of the bands velvet top hat bullshit
>>129588455They're not, Chris.
>>129585566Yes. It’s their masterpiece and can never be topped. All of the PJ hater fags love to shit on it though. It’s a great album.
>>129588404based grunge wizard. i forgot about GR
>>129586900My take on Ten is that it seems more the result of folk-rock influences than Seattle scene. And it's reinforced by my impression that Vedder borrowed his vocal style from Richard Thompson. It doesn't sound at all like pre-91 Soundgarden or even Green River. The similarity with the latter is more in studio sound, with that reverb all over the place, giving it this eery atmosphere, like they're playing in a forest. But the songwriting sounds to me closer to something like Edie Brickell & the Bohemians made to rock harder, plus the 'tribal' yarling done in the style of Rich Thompson. That kind of syncopated melodic folkish melody was also being done by 4non blondes back in 1990, so there was this folkish vibe back then that they must have picked up on. But they set it on heavier guitar work with more elaborate solos. That's why overall Pearl Jam doesn't sound so original or innovative. They sound like other bands from that time, except Vedder's vocal timber gave them a signature.
>>129588713Based opinion.
>>129585566High quality butt rock. It's not grunge.
>>129588772Yeah come to think of it.. Pearl Jam sounds like if you took folk rock chords and put them on a funk rock rhythm. Then you get that emotional vibe typical of folk but also the RHCP style of funky rhythm.Add in Vedder's yarling and that's the Pearl Jam recipe
I liked all of it, but the standouts are black and alive.
JEREMY SPOKANE
>>129585566It's their only good album.
>>129590843>>129588713vitalogy is better cause it feels like only time Pearl Jam actually wrote good music and not popular shit for the billboard 200. It was their only real album
>>129586794didn't that uni shooter get obsessed with that? (Cho?)must haunt the band, poor guys
>>129585566Nope>>129588907This
>>129588772>my impression that Vedder borrowed his vocal style from Richard Thompson.the famous story told by Vedder and others: early on, a guy in another band, maybe Mudhoney?, said to Vedder, "You know what? No one sings like David Clayton-Thomas* anymore - you should sing like that."So Vedder basically mimicked Clayton-Thomas ...and the rest is history.*singer of Blood, Sweat & Tears; very distinct and "manly" voice
>>129591212No man, it sucks. It's just too weird, toothless and safe. There's no passion,no aggression, nothing in it, it can straight up put you to sleep. Ten mogs it easily, all the bangers and epic songs are on that album.
>>129585566They are high-fiving each other, c'mon, are you fucking kidding me?
>>129591212i got bugs :)versus was better
THE WAITING DROVE ME MADYOU'RE FINALLY HERE AND I'M A MESS
>>129585566Many are saying this
>>129585566It is yeah. Garden, Release, Once and Black are all excellent songs. The big hits like Jeremy and Alive are kinda meandering
Merkin Ball is great
