What do you think this website's overall legacy is when it comes to music?
>>129643541decent curation of music that was ruined by people who took it as gospel. kind of like the beatles.
>>129643541A complete shithole that became obsessed with being the main characters of music instead of just reviewing it.
they helped destroy rock and indie music and spread the cancer of poptimism

I found a lot of great albums from them back in 2007-2013. Their "best albums of the year" lists back then were a solid way of disovering new artists. No idea what they're like now. The cultural and music landscape is much different than back then
>>129643541sometimes when I accidentally find an artist I like on YouTube and they're featured on pitchfork, I feel more confident
>>129643541reminds me of the hipster garbage that our userbase kept trying to get people to listen to back then
it helped me understand that scathing music criticism helps foment better music getting made
Trash, worse than the opinions of FantanoIts non musicans talking about it something sounds to themThey dont even know what are the notes do re mi fa sol la si~

>>129643541it's a great site for people who don't understand what music is, who don't have ears, and are monstrously insecure about their tastes.Mostly the last one - Pitchfork exists so that the insecure can either go "see even Pitchfork likes this album!" or "hahah I didn't like that album but the woke liberal tranny libs at P4k gave it 10/10"As always, music criticism has absolutely nothing to do with music.
