Musicians are so lucky it's unreal, sometimes I wish I had become a professional guitarist instead of getting a masters degree in engineering. Artists have solid pay, job security as AI can't take your job, you can travel on tours to enhance your income, it's easy to make money by simply advertising free stuff you get and then there are intangible perks like fame and women. I'm jelly, it's completely different from what I was told as a kid. Any midsize band worth their salt can fill a medium, 1000 person venue, meanwhile I have to wage slave in a cubicle I'd trade my degree for being slightly above average with the guitar
go back to /gg/ we have containment threads for a reason
>>129646792but the chances of actually becoming famous are so low it's not really worth it
>>129646792you're confusing being in a famous band with being a professional guitar player. There are very few guitar players in the world that fit your description. There are 50x more "professional guitar players" than guitar players in a famous band and those guys don't get the perks you listed.
>>129646943>>129646968You don't have to be famous to fill a venue
You see it as lucky but not really. Maybe youre an idiot (no offence intended) so you cant make it work but if you are average IQ or higher you should be able to grind out being a guitarist in a bandbut being in a band isnt all roses. Your personal life matters so you can get cancelled if you do anything wrong like messing with girls (emotional abuse) etc. You could get cancelled for arguing with fans. You might get addicted to alcohol and drugs. You might get panic attacks on stage. You might feel like your life is a performance act and you dont want to play the same song 500 times in a row and pretend you love it everytime. you might hate your band mates, realise you have no say in the creative direction and youre just a guy that stands there and plays chords whilst the other guys do the other meaningful shit. But you cant change songs, or change direction, youre locked in and you might hate every day of it, but you gotta go on stage and pretend you love it for your pay chequeand if you dont mind that shit.. why dont you do it? You must not want it, or 90IQ
>>129647400Playing a guitar is young mans game, nobody wants to see 40 something man do it
All you need is 1 or 2 top 40 songs and you’re set for life. You can spend 50 years doing 1000 seat venues charging $40 dollar a ticket 2 gigs a week.Do the math? Thats $80,000 dollars a week. Even niche bands can make great money. You only need 500 to 1000 people in an area to show up for you and pay $40 dollars. This is how OF is so profitable too.
>>129646792It ain't that good.
>be me>early 30's>regretting the hell out of not learning guitar when I was younger despite having the opportunity>want to make it as a semi-famous indie musician with at least internet notoriety >been practicing and learning like crazy the past couple of yearsThis shit is unrealistic as hell isn't it?
>>129647375no but you won't have good pay or job security playing small venues.
>>129647646Regardless of your age you have to like holding rapport with a lot of people. A lot of things you have to do to be a successful music band puts you in a mindset not conducive to making good music.
>>129647670See>>129647575
>>129647575>>129647791you're underestimating the kind of audience you'll get based off 1 or 2 hits. The artists who can fill 1000 seat venues will have at least a few good albums that their core fans will enjoy on top of their 2 hits. Then there are artists with only 2 hits and nothing else to their name. People aren't going to see them live indefinitely.
>>129647837my point exactly, there are a lot of mid tier bands who you've never heard of that fill mid venues
>>129647646This is 2026 nigga, being good doesn't make anyone famous it's making funny skits on tiktok
>>129650005Dude your shitty pop punk band isn't going to make money. This is getting really pathetic. Like do you make your shirts in a fucking sweatshop? Everyone's always yammering about "making it" but never can describe what about a music band makes money.
>>129650256They sell merch and book venues anon, that's how bands make money.
>>129647696Probably doesn't help that I have really bad social anxiety either. >>129650127Now this. I have basically lived on the internet my whole life so I get marketing myself on the internet. Doesn't guarantee success but I think I'd understand how approach that sort of thing in 2026 at least.
Every day there's some dumbass on here being like>guys I can't play any instrument idk how to make music plus I have really bad social anxiety and haven't left the basement for 20 years, can I make it?
>>129650713That's not me, the OP, anon. That said who cares? Dealing with social anxiety is important
>>129650713Damn, you got me.
>>129646792>Artists have solid pay, job security
>>129647517All the bands i go see live are 50+ kekYou youngsters just dont have what it takes
