>Went from playing arenas to mid sized theaters

How did Arcade Fire lose so much of its legacy in such a short time?
>>
Because they were never good.

retard

indie rock is a relic of the 2000s. it’s all about hip hop now
>>
>>129651813
>it’s all about hip hop now

Rap and hip hop are as dead as rock now after the mumbler rap/soundcloud bubble burst
>>
>>129651778

They've sucked for over a decade now.

many such cases, see Animal Collective
>>
They had good songs, but they never had that special spark that separates the good bands from the great bands. Rebellion is a jam though.
>>
Kinda just realized so many popular indie rock acts that were everywhere in the 2000s and 2010s completely sunk in relevance. Even nu metal bands like SOAD or Korn can still fill up arenas while major indie acts like The Strokes, Interpol or Arcade Fire don't even get second line billing at festivals anymore

You are nearly 30

You are like 10 years away from gen a thinking your generations taste are a total embarrassment. Enjoy it while it lasts lil bro

>>
>>129652327
In what universe are they not?
>>
>>129652333
The one we live in now, because they never released anything on an independent record label.
>>
>>129652333
the one where their dads are millionaires with connections to the entertainment industry and epstein tendencies
so this universe

>The Strokes, Interpol or Arcade Fire don't even get second line billing at festivals anymore
because none of these bands ever sold any records. they werent stars. mtv spammed their videos but nobody bought their music. look up the tiny number of albums these bands sold
>>
>>129652346
Exactly.

>>129652368
The Strokes actually *did* sell a bunch of records although I otherwise agree. Their first three albums at least went certified platinum/gold depending on the country.

And I was one of the weirdos who actually listened to Arcade Fire right as they were taking off pretty much too.
>>
When i saw them live he got on mic and said the chick was an refugee. I guess as a way to sway us
>>
>>129652126
The Strokes are literally just below Bieber at Coachella this year.
>>
>>129651862
I laughed, audibly.
>>
>>129651778
Saw them at the festival in 2011. They were already on a decline back then, stage presence wise.
>>
>>129652368
Is This It (2001) by the Strokes sold over 2 million copies sold worldwide. Is platinum certified in US
>>
>>129652126
The fact that almost none of these indie bands are still relevant while nu-metal and pop punk bands are still popular proves that commercial success is all that matters and critical acclaim is meaningless

but still during the height of the cd buying years thats a dismal number when you look at the huge sales by other bands during that same time. matchbox 20 sold over 12 million copies of just one album. silver side up from 2001 sold 10 million copies and then all the right reasons from 2003 sold 18 million copies worldwide
>>
>>129651778

All of that 'achingly sincere' crap like this has aged far more poorly than the stuff that it was a response to, which is really funny to me kek
>>

I jumped ship back in 2010 when i first listened to Th Suburbs. i just couldn't believe the band who made their previous albums, would release somethign as baffling as that.
I still managed to listen to the album multiple times, to see if i woudl change my opinion, but that was it.
I have never listened to another Arcade Fire album afterwards.
It was the biggest disappointment i had with artists new release in my life, ever.
The Suburbs to me sounds like St ANger to Metallica fans

>>
>>129652126
There is a lot of nostalgia for 90s/2000s nu metal, pop punk and mainstream alt rock because it aired on the radio all the time.
