If it fell off, all of these companies would be falling apart.
Some have... like the Washburns and Deans of the world. But not the main guys.
It doesn't even have to be that rock has to thrive. It's a combination of multiple genres that keep it all alive. And even bands that don't put guitars at the forefront still use them. You got popstars like Taylor Swift and Halsey who play guitars, or little EDM duos like Magdalena Bay. They're just there to add to whatever else they're doing. In addition to the rock and country out there. It all adds up.
>>
>>129654043
this. the guitar center genres like bluegrass, rock, metal, punk are dead as fuck, and everyone walked away from jazz when electric guitar joined. guitar is now just good for strumming a chord every bar or two but piano can do that better also.
>>
>>129654111
Piano is a completely different instrument. It doesn't replace a guitar any more than it replaces drums or flute.
Nor is any of this is a fucking sport where instruments and genres are in some kind of Playoffs getting knocked out. There's crowds for everything.

It’s just become a more niche-oriented instrument, as every subculture has been splintered. Plus, guitar is a solved instrument - that’s why there’s caps to technique unless you have another thumb or something. Case in point is why there’s all these Asian fakers and sped up wobble wobble dubstep hyper-processed guitar.

Piano and violin are no different, drums to a lesser extent. Once there are pedagogical materials written about every aspect, the instrument needs to evolve. When was the last time you played cat gut strings in a near-silent auditorium filled with the hoi-paloi listening with rapt attention?
>yesterday, o sexy slime

I think the future is in songwriting, and even all the bells and whistles of DAWs are still exciting when used right. Guitar is still a major part of that and still carries weight in the western musical canon. Boosting your live playing stats and having the ORIGINAL songs to boot are deadly in the right hands.

I’m planning on going the profligate Guided by Voices/Mountain Goats/Sebadoh route in my mid-slime crisis. It seems like a lot of fun to write bullshit country songs and commercial spots, while also cranking out wacky genre music to taste the WWOOFers stinkholes. Y’know, do something like the dudes from Lightning Bolt but less gay

Has anyone here bought used guitars (the answer is almost certainly yes)? What was your experience? I've only bought new, but I'm looking at some expensive models, and I might get 40-50% off if I choose used. It's just a possessive thing, I wonder if it wouldn't really feel *mine* if I wasn't the first owner.
>>
>>129654692
Guitars are like cars; only a fool buys one new.
>>
>>129654695
I don't agree with the comparison, because cars require expensive maintenance and eventually become unusable (without a lot of work, at the very least). I have 2 guitars that I've owned for 10+ years that I still enjoy.
>>
>>129654692
don’t buy vintage unless you can look at it in person. don’t buy used unless it’s more than 30% cheaper. don’t buy unless it comes with all the original stuff because the owner is a faggot and you are getting scammed

I love this thing. I’m thinking about selling some of my less played guitars to fund another Rick but a proper 360 or maybe 330. This thing just feels and sounds so great though, a proper semi hollow Rick is definitely the essential Rickenbacker but this thing being a neck through just makes it sustain like crazy. Two pickups, fixed bridge, and slab body is just my favorite in a guitar and this checks every box and then some.
>>
>>129654754
I was thinking id use my rig this way so that I can grab the BCB30 box and take it to a place if I ever do play live. The delays and synth are just for fun at home. Anyone know about playing live and how I might wanna arrange my board? Im thinking right now it's just the five pedals in that box plus a wah maybe.

1/2 right. It’s harder to see the voice leading, but tab with rhythm markings is acceptable.

That’s called interpretation and it’s a fundamental part of classical conservatories.

Also, you missed the position markers, tempo/style (rall. is shorthand for “gradually slow down”, but you knew that), and what’s this… fingerings?? It’s almost like it has tab, but it’s music. Tab and Notation!
Notation and tab!

What did you guys learn today
>>
>>129656120
i recently learned the treble clef gets a little extra curl at the bottom to denote you're playing 1 octave lower than usual so the guitar's full register can be contained within that clef and if the treble clef doesn't have the little curl you're likely playing the tune an octave too low
>>
>>129656385
nice
>>
>>129656380
I learned two very hard songs. I had to study the rhythm very carefully because I was learning to generate more harmonic movement without changing chords. what did you learn?
>>
>>129654786
only two pickups and yet 5 knobs AND a switch wowee
>>
>>129656380
just writing my songs and polishing my riffs
>>
>>129656380
I learned how to integrate 1st and 2nd string spacing (being that the b and g string interval puts everything a step ahead on the next two strings) into the other strings chord shapes. Sounds obvious but it takes a practical exploration for it to really click for me and today it did
