How should I go about learning classical music theory if I only have an electric guitar and can't afford a piano?
>>129654392Starter keyboards and midi controllers are cheaper than guitars.
>>129654407Fippy bippy, you can buy a Yamaha keyboard for cheap. Best of luck OP, commit and do your best!
>>129654410>cheapI don't have a few hundred.
>>129654419Nigger you can go to Goodwill and get one if you're lucky, you a third world peasant who lives in a shack or something?
>>129654435My research online has seemed to indicate that a good full 88 key digital piano with weighted keys and pedals costs a few hundred second hand. If you can point me to one for under 200 I might be able to afford that.
>>129654392If you don't work and you can't beg anyone for money, get a job. If you are afraid of getting a job, beg for money. If can so much as work minimum wage you should be able to buy a starter instrument within a year. Troll some pawn shops after you have saved about 1,000 dollars. You'll probably want accessories. If you can beg for and or save for a high grade instrument, do so. You can still buy a cheap starter in the mean time.
>>129654459I'm unemployed, applying for tech jobs. I'm not going to get another job so in the meantime I don't have any money to spend.
>>129654455Get a job, asshole.

People give away old upright pianos for free all the time, check local classified ads (craigslist e.g.). They take up space and are heavy as fuck, so people are eager to get rid of them. The hard part ofc is moving it, you need a few friends or you could try hiring some bums to help (they like liquor).
>>129654488*money can be exchanged for liquor
>>129654468Are you on good terms with any family members? You might see if they would be willing to gift you an instrument. Do you have any old junk you can sell? You can probably scrounge up enough for a cheap keyboard or classical guitar. Yamaha is a great company for both starter levels. I found myself doing more work on my F310 than either of my Strats for the simple reason the F310 was light weight and didn't require power. That's a steel string acoustic. You can get a nylon Yamaha guitar for less than 200. That's the kind of starter you can talk a lot of people into buying for you.
>>129654527I mean I'm on good terms with my parents but they bought me my guitar. I'd probably have to wait until Christmas.
>>129654551You'd better find an odd job or just keep working with your electric. You might be able to trade your electric for a used nylon. But unless you are a real waste case and evil person, what is stopping you from asking for odd job work while you wait on your good job?
>>129654589I like metal, I'm not trading in my electric.>what is stopping you from asking for odd job work while you wait on your good job?I honestly don't know a single zoomer in my personal life that's worked odd jobs lol
>>129654608odd jobs were some of my most favorite can learn a lot if you mind is right
>>129654616What kind of stuff did you do?
>>129654679kitchen work and warehouse workin both i got to find real world applications of the organization, multitasking and optimization principles id learned in my compsci courses. only in a few instances did the improvements i realised i could help make yield any kind of significant impact to the efficiency of the entire building, but in both cases they got me noticed by my mgmt and entrusted with a position of leadership, but those leadership roles taught me even further lessons about how people cooperate in a system.ik it might seem like im talking it way up, my accomplishments— my “accomplishments” there are hardly anything out of the ordinary, but to me they were vital opportunities to meditate on the theory learned in the classroom. i still recall them during software interviews, and its never failed to leave my interviewers with the impression that i have attention to detail.plus, leadership positions basically just boil down to making good choices given only imperfect information. and then also having the humility and respect towards others to step in and help those who were under my charge whenever something id asked people to do didnt work out as well as expected.its not a requirement to get a job and im not saying “hey you, make a career out of it”, but dont poopoo manual labor just because it seems like its below your skill set.if youre a smart cookie you can really get a lot of good worth out of even a few months. just my thoughts on it.
>>129654608Irrelevant. Ask who needs help doing things like yard chores or moving/cleaning houses. Or wash dishes, prep and cook for a local restaurant. Wash people's cars. Work the call center. Stock shelves for mega box. Etc. You want money, right? Get off your ass and get to work. Or don't and keep fretting. Your choice.
