In your opinion, what artist had the greatest decade run?For me, it's gotta be Donald Fagen (Steely Dan Inclusive)>Can't Buy a Thrill (1972)>Countdown to Ecstasy (1973)>Pretzel Logic (1974)>Katy Lied (1975)>The Royal Scam (1976)>Aja (1977)>Gaucho (1980)>The NightflyNY Jew doing white Jazz, what's not to love. Runner ups:>Stevie Wonder>Billy Joel>Earth, Wind, and FireINB4 Reddit. Steely Dan is GOATed and The Nightfly is almost perfect. Give a genuine critique or fuck off.
The Nightfly is one of the best sounding albums I have ever heard in my life
Mccoy Tyner from 1967-1976 was utterly untouchable for jazz back then. I guess Trane's death impacted him deeply, he went into beast mode
>>129663347It is genuinely maddening listening to other music once you've listened to it. This isn't to say every song is great, but the production/engineering is unmatched. That said,>I.G.Y is a banger>New Frontier is a banger with a banger Music Video>The Nightfly is a bangerThe rest is fineI think The Stranger is the perfect album DESU, but from a production standpoint, Fagen is unbeatable.
>>129663448Ruby Baby and Maxine are really good imo
>>129663326Neil Young from 1969-1979
>>129663326Good choice. I don't like the Beatles but I can't deny their influence over a decade. Paul Simon (including Simon and Garfunkel) too.>>129663983Neil Young is still turning the crank, dude's gotta be 80-some now.
>>129663326Fagen is a good one but the answer is Tom Petty. His streak lasted from debut (75) up to and including Hypnotic Eye (2011 i think?). >Hurr durr it’s not its-Cope.
>>129663326XTC had a perfect two decade run. 13 albums (15 counting Dukes of Stratosphear) and all of them are a different kind of great.
Honerable mention>Outkast 1994-2003
>>129663326Bowie. The Man Who Sold the World to Let's Dance is my favourite run ever and I thoroughly enjoy every album there. Even pinups
>>129663983this right here, and Neil fell off a cliff after 1979 until he hooked up with Vedder.
