The standing of this album has really suffered in retrospect from Harrison's obessession with India and Hinduism. What may have been exotic and mysterious and spiritual at the time now plays as low class, low CASTE, Jeeted. There's too many Indians in the west and obviously their favorite Beatle will be George Harrison, so Harrison's work is now Indian-coded in the modern sense, which means distasteful.

So few even remember it man, it barely has any standing.

It's not his fault that an effectively medieval society suddenly got internet access

>>129668723
it is generally his best considering his other albums.

Don't try samefagging till you've learned what "syntax" is, Duleep. Free advice

Besides My Sweet Lord, is the album really that Indian-sounding though?

IMO his 60's jeet songs (Inner Light, Within You, Love You To) are way more obnoxious
>>
>>129669030
he was at his best dropping the indian schtick and doing a classic rock style like guitar gently weeps

The jams on the end are bullshit. He took a double album and poured a bunch of trash on it to fill it out. Why did it need to be 3 whole disks? Then there's the horrible production. What is life and wah wah are the radio friendly exceptions. Everything else would be better off not drowned in shit. Why did George need to work with phil spector? Phil was a nonfunctioning junky at the time. George was a much better record producer than a solo artist. Why a triple album produced by Phil Spector? It's not really a triple album and Phil Spector barely showed up.

i feel bad for you if you can't tap into the deep bhakti (devotion) he displays for God (as he understands it) on this album on songs like My Sweet Lord or Forgive Me Lord. true spirituality & a way of life which is far deeper and more rewarding than american hedonistic nihilism is possible -- knocking on your door, even -- but you won't let it in because you are blinded by racist memes. tragic!

Publications will just assert this is "the greatest of any Beatle's post-band solo work" and then leave it unranked while putting John Lennon | Plastic Ono in their top 100. It's a weird cognitive dissonance thing. John Lennon and Imagine are clearly more important albums.

The left will hate this guy for being white and call it cultural appropriation
The right will hate this guy and call his simping for a foreign culture self-hatred

>>129669259
Lennon was in deep with the Jews. He knew how the industry worked and used it cynically.
>>
>>129668723
I don't really care about that. My problem is the awful production. And too much filler.

Importance and influence arent necessarily an earmark for quality

>>129668723
ballad of sir frankie crisp is the best song on this lp

The left want to lecture you about other cultures but you cant be influenced by them or take anything from it if youre white

Arthur Schopenhauer called the Upanishads "the production of the highest human wisdom", and they illuminated much of his philosophy. is one of the most pre-eminent western philosophers of the 19th century too "low-class" for you?
>>
>>129669076
Phils Spector was the GOAT. Calling his production horrible is insane. Almost everything he touched was gold

the left (jews) just hate white people, simple as
the right (jews) are worse because they dont say it out loud, you have to hack their emails to find it

It's weird to call playing music cultural appropriation.

I mean say I have Appalachian roots but live in the city and have no ties to back home Appalachia and parents were into Black Sabbath.

So if I heard an Appalachian country song or an Indian raga song on the radio one day and said 'hey, that sounds cool, I want to try to learn to play music like that's, you'd probably do the exact same thing to learn either one: buy a record or watch a video and try to mimick what you hear or go to a teacher who specializes in teaching that kind of music.

But one would apparently be regarded as appropriating and one acceptable even though you're doing the exact same thing to try to learn both styles of music

Kind of weird to have this sort of discussion about any Beatles work, /mu/ was incredibly anti-Beatles back then. We probably would've bullied you and you would've never came back, especially seeing that your endgame is to make threads like >>129643822 which is pretty fucked up. We wouldn't have let it slide back then.

Agreed. I think the Beatles are-
WAIT, JOHN, NO!

I agree Phil Spector is a god, and wah wah and what is life are peak Phil Spector. But I think he hurt the rest of the album. And to be fair, he was barely conscious due to drugs at this time and george harrison had to climb in through his hotel window, or some such thing, to get him to come in to the studio for this album.

All Things Must Pass [Apple, 1970]
As a slave of the very "MAYA" (pidgin Hindi for the concrete world) Harrison warns against, I am obliged to point out that playing headsie with the Universal Mind is not introspection and that the International Pop Music Community is not a group. Presumably, the featurelessness of these three discs--right down to the anonymity of the multitracked vocals--reflects Harrison's notion of Truth, and he's welcome to it. But he's never been good for more than two songs per album, and after "My Sweet Lord" I start to get stuck. C
