>>129673570I've got a high tolerance for alcohol so as long as I don't got on an apocalyptic bender that's cool. Weed in moderation is fantastic, really helps me get into the groove and feel the music. Coke and speed are great in moderation too if we're playing live but not very good for writing/jamming imo, too easy to go down rabbitholes that don't go anywhere. Some people love ketamine, I don't like it for making music, my timing goes to shit.

I play worse on every drug I use except caffeine. But even too much caffeine makes me jittery so it's not optimal.

I realized the other day that I play differently on acid. I'm much more twitchy, I do a lot of extra picking. I'm also better and stopping and thinking about what I actually want to play instead of letting my hands do the work. Really, I'm better at everything except actually executing it. I've decided I need to work in some of that attitude in my regular playing, it feels more uniquely me than what I usually do.

I did a bunch of playing along to songs but feeling the sound go through my fingers was probably the awakening moment where I understood why people do psychedelics and play. When I'm sober I get this extreme dopamine release but when that shit hit me on mushrooms I felt like I could do anything on bass and I've only been playing 1 year

It's more that they feel wiser, in a way. I'm struggling to put it in a way that doesn't come off as wasteoid pretense, but I'm sure there's an audible difference.

I prefer to use when I'm listening. when I'm playing I really don't like it. makes my thoughts too disorganized.
