50 YEARS OF HAKO: Part IIIWe already celebrated 50 years of Hako thoroughly and then listened to the remaster of her first album, Tobimasu, released in December. Now it's time for Hako's second album, Tsunawatari, originally released in 1976. This finally makes the rare mini-album we discussed in the first thread called "Tobimasu... 17sai" redundant, since all 4 of its 1974 demo songs are now available on the remasters of Tobimasu and Tsunawatari. This also means Suteta Tomodachi can be found on Youtube for the first time.

Last time I said that I'd make this thread in the last week of February or the first week of March. However, I fell victim to the good old monkey paw.Last week I hoped Tsunawatari Deluxe Edition would arrive before the weekend. And I indeed got it on Friday. When I merrily put the CD into my only optical drive, it turned out it was dead. I had to order a new one, which arrived only a few days ago. Hence the delay.

I just realised I had made a terrible, terrible mistake. We had two threads focused on Hako's first album, Tobimasu, and I completely forgot to mention something of the highest importance. For this absolute blunder I am going to punish myself by pausing Hako for 10 minutes.Now, look at the cover of Tobimasu again. Yes, that's right, the green moonrunes. Without a shadow of doubt everyone spent many a sleepless night wondering what they meant.When I tried reading them for the first time, I decided they were just random letters. That's because for some reason I was convinced they're read vertically starting from the right. But as it turned out, they had decided to write them horizontally like normal human beings for once, as a joke, I'm sure.The solution to the mystery is a bit disappointing, to be honest. It's just a fragment of lyrics. But not from the song Tobimasu, as one would expect. It's from Hashi Mukou no Ie. It starts with "八つ当たりでもすりゃ" (yatsu atari demo surya) and ends with "あの橋を渡り川沿いのこの" (ano hashi wo watari kawazoi no kono), ending mid-sentence.I'm still investigating why they used Hashi Mukou no Ie of all songs.
I reached a milestone a few weeks ago, by the way. 100k of listens to Hako (PC only, I don't use last.fm on my phone).Thus, I now possess over 25% of all listens to Hako on the site. Actually, ~13%, because like most Japanese artists, Hako has another entry with her name spelled in romaji. There, there are another 400k listens.In total 51700 people listened to her songs 730k times, that's ~14 per person on average.Of course, that was a few weeks ago, I got another ~7000 since then.

In this thread specifically I need to mention how I started listening to Hako. I'm not going to torture you with the whole story, because it would take multiple posts to tell it, just a quick summary.I've been listening to Hako on a daily basis (literally, with 0 days of abstinence) for nearly 4 years, since the 2nd of May 2022, to be precise. But I already had a couple of her albums on my HDD before that, which is why I could accidentally find them in my music folder on that day.10 years ago, though I didn't use to, I randomly happened to visit /mu/. While scrolling down the first page, looking for some rock/metal, an album cover caught my eye. It was pic related, Hako's Tsunawatari, the album we're listening to in this thread. Why it caught my attention, I can't say. It is a nice cover, but nothing really spectacular after all. And for some reason I can't explain either, I decided to download it, even though I wasn't interested in any type of music except rock and metal (this stays true even today, but with one exception, obviously). And it sat in my music folder for 6 years.The point of the story is: if you remember making a post about Tsunawatari in a /mu/ thread on 30 July 2016, know that you have my eternal gratitude.

I wanted to post a song I've been listening to a lot recently, but the album is not on Youtube. Therefore, I uploaded it.The album is called Watashi no Shiawase and it's a live recording. You will notice that song number 12 (旅路 - Tabiji) is in .mp3 format. This is because the song is only in the LP version. The CD version on the other hand has two songs LP doesn't. This is a poster released as promotional material for Tobimasu. It's 50 years old and a couple of them should still exist. And one day at least one of them will be mine.
At least one, because I'd like enough of them to cover all my walls and ceilings.Well then, I'll be back when another remaster releases, although there is nothing announced at the moment.
