Waifuposters are scapegoated for this board's decline but that couldn't be further from the truth. Strange that, even as little as three years ago, we had several times as much activity as we do now, and 2023 was a far cry from /mu/ at its peak. It's difficult to say what caused user attrition (many blame /pol/ but that's another lazy scapegoat along with waifuists) but what's most disturbing is that the same users make the same threads ad infinitum. I'm sadly no exception to this, but I've tried in vain to discuss my darling's music career. I can't force anyone to have discussions they don't want, but few places to discuss music without user registration exist anywhere else online.What's really killing this board is a combination of user attrition, unchecked shitposting, low quality OPs and bait threads. User attrition is sadly inevitable as we can't force others to be interested in this place, but everything else needs effective moderation to foster a better culture for the few who remain.
