> Only Ride and Zach Hill this time thoughAndy was never really involved in the compositions of the sound despite what some people believe. He was really only responsible for engineering/mixing and fishing certain samples. The only true evidence he worked on compositions in any capacity is from an ama rumored to be him where he said something along the lines of "Government Plates was the first Death Grips project where I became more involved in the actual sound of the music." But other than this, from what we actually know, the "music" is pretty much all Zach at the end of the day. And apparently from what I've heard from close people, is that Zach fucking WORKS on his music. Like dude for real puts in 8 hrs a day everyday towards the art he's working on.
Also, people are just not ready for this next record. The gloves are fully off and they've had time to heal and grow. It's been 8, I repeat, EIGHT years since YOTS. Their last tour (2023), while had some unfortunate mishaps (glow sticks, pit pisser, propeller hats), also had Death Grips at their absolute best live yet. Also after Steroids, YOTS, and GMAIL, it's like these guys can just do absolutely whatever sound Zach is up for with no record label catering now. But honestly at this point I don't know what to expect from the next record, I don't know if they're gonna go the more out there route like Yots, or swing it back to being a banger comeback tape with sounds like TMS or BP. Honestly, I just hope that Stefan and Zach put a lot of effort into this one and bring us sounds that nobody has heard before.
If Ride is involved, it will suck just like everything else with his vocals on it.
