This album's great if you like the sadsack side of the band. This is like getting Faith/Pornography/Disintegration/Bloodflowers style Robert when he's actually old enough to be at death's door instead of existentially feeling like he is. He did say that on this album he sings about stuff he thought he knew but has now lived long enough to REALLY know it, and it shows. Shame the mix sucks, but the words and melodies are some sobering shit.

The album tries to give some pacing reprieve in the middle. Warsong's a doom and gloomfest but it's the shortest song on the album, and Drone:Nodrone is the one time the album actually has some groove to it. But yeah, if you were wanting airy, wistful Cure then this wasn't really your album. The feelings on this one are heavy as fuck - seeing loved ones die, relationships breaking apart beyond repair, feeling your mind slip away as you age, feeling the disappointment of your inner child as the world only got worse instead of better.
