Idk, there are probably some convoluted ways you could go about it but I would say just start with Trespass and go in order from there. Genesis were so prolific that you can chart their history and evolution fluidly from album to album.

>>129783196
Vastly overrated. They have some interesting tempos and melodies but there’s not much you can do with just three instruments, so a lot of their songs just feel too samey to stand out. They also have a tendency to just make long songs that don’t feel like they do anything with that runtime.
Favorite song from them is Vicarious, because of the 4/5ths beat it sometimes has. The music videos are neat, I guess.

Random thought of the day: Insane how all important Genesis members are still alive today
>>
HOLY SHIT PETER GABRIEL WAS IN GENESIS? I haven't heard them but I assumed it was Phil Collins and random session musicians
>>
>>129817994
They were really young when they started. Most of the iconic prog musicians of the 70s were all in their mid to late 20s when they broke out and had been honing their chops in and out of bands since the early 60s. Genesis came right out of boarding school and were literally teenagers when they cut their first record, and even when Collins and Hackett came in they were in the same age range.
>>
>>129818084
Yeah but the odds all of them still got to reach mid 70s of age is still pretty small even though old Collins is at the death's door nowadays.

I just don't seem to be able to get into King Crimson or Yes without having at least some reservations. Their songs just have too many random batshit dissonant sections, so even if I like some stuff I can't say the full package actually sounds that good. Fucking hell I've been going through this Magma live album and they sound way heavier and intense here than in most of the rest of their discography, they just fucking rip and shred through Kohntarkosz, Theusz Hamtaahk and Mekanik Destruktiw Kommandoh here. There's a 30 minute drum solo that's surprisingly not boring, and the guitar solo in MDK doesn't sound like it belong 1974.
There's a lot of focus on guitar here that's very uncharacteristic of Magma.

It's about what I was expecting. Geddy's voice is worse, but they have more energy than I thought. I'm disappointed there isn't a foot cam for the drummer.
>>
>>129840755
I'll go out on a limb and say he plays Nights in White Satin.
>>
>>129841855
The drummer is a lot less technical and showy than I expected. Granted it's far from their most showy song drum-wise.

It has the Venice Gospel Ensemble sing on a couple tracks. The only thing that would make it more Catholic is if Tony Pagliuca was on it (he later collaborated with the Pope on the 2015 album "Wake Up")

>The name "Milton Keynes" was a reuse of the name of one of the original historic villages in the designated area,[42] now more generally known as "Milton Keynes Village" to distinguish it from the modern settlement. A century after the Norman invasion, the manor transferred by marriage to Hugh de Kaynes,[43] whose family held it to the late 13th century (as well as others in the country – Ashton Keynes in Wiltshire, Somerford Keynes in Gloucestershire, and Horsted Keynes in West Sussex).[43] The village was originally known as Middeltone (11th century); then later as Middelton Kaynes or Caynes (13th century); Milton Keynes (15th century); and Milton alias Middelton Gaynes (17th century).[43]

Locanda Delle Fate. Probably the last Italian album released in the 70s worth a damn.
