At peak relevance, /mu/ was a millennial hipster board that was obsessed with p4k ratings, so Swans were inducted into the /mu/core canon. /mu/ initially resisted the poptimist turn that p4k and the indie world took, but it eventually submitted because of wpop waifus. One major event, now mostly forgotten, was the idea of "poseurcore" that some posters aggressively forced. Essentially they argued that nobody really liked avant-garde/dark/etc. music, they just pretended to for aesthetic reasons, and that they all secretly preferred Oasis and Carley Rae Jepsen.
