Why is it so hard to find dreamy ethereal dnb that doesn’t have hard/gritty drums? Most dnb lately is just edgy lolicore when I just want clean, precise, airy, ethereal, dreamy tracks like this:https://youtu.be/fFq6ZQ088PY?si=yM0jbWBDxR6sroLOhttps://youtu.be/_poqyHxHtfU?si=uYbd3UP-qJYJa8fPhttps://youtu.be/qHFYgSV1GoU?si=1G0D18f6W_ppeV5o
>>129796526Like a lot of niche/meme-y genres, most of the content is now being drowned out incredibly mediocre AI playlists.

>>129796586I haven’t found any AI artist yet. dusqk posts vids of his production process on social media but he does use stupid ai cover art
>>129796654This is pretty nice, thank you
>>129796526post someunironically all of this has good ideas, it boosts my creativity coming up with melodical progressions
>>129797170I don’t have a lot, most of it isn’t even dnb but has similar textures and melodic elements https://youtu.be/Tj7a1uaoCawhttps://youtu.be/CzSHC0lRv9khttps://youtu.be/U8mJtfOeDuU
Drum & bass is better for less percussive rave music.
>>129797401its ok, kairi is based anon
>>129798634I always wanted to be her when I was a kid…
>>129796526I like this. I think I'll see if I can learn to make music like this too.
a guy called gerald - black secret technologyhttps://youtu.be/BD-0hScHwc8
>>129797401That top one is just someone shitting all over the already great song Stay Alive.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nHg4ixhpmWQ
>>129800486I know what song it samples, lol. Say what you want, I think it’s a beautiful storm of a song and the production is wonderful.
>>129796654https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y0YNzq79Ww8
>>129800826>>129800152These are wonderful but not quite what I’m looking forThe timbre and tone of those tracks are a bit darker and grittier. Ethereal but more like gusts of wind from a subway grate at dusk, and less like whispy bright white clouds on a late spring day which is what I’m looking forPlenty of good stuff in that darker ether vein though:https://youtu.be/8ut11K6S6lY?si=9Okg7ve2VcF3WeZohttps://youtu.be/6mDXOxZVjwg?si=oaHV6qOKtBFGb8u4https://youtu.be/wUZVaiYbjZM?si=-fURNhaHynhFwCyu
>>129798035>rave music>less percussivedumtard lol
>>129801122I think he was saying that dnb is a less percussive subgenre of rave music since a lot of rave music uses break beats that are typically more percussively dense than the basic 2-step beat often used in dnb...
>>129801116>Ethereal but more like gusts of wind from a subway grate at dusk, lol. I love this description....but I don't see how your last track is any brighter than Jupiter's Field.Your first track, I can totally hear what you're talking about -- and I really like that one.
Listening to the chuchu rocket ost
>>129796526>I just want clean, precise, airy, ethereal, dreamy tracks like this:It gets bland after a while. The artists all heard this shit when they were 11 and got bored of it when they were 12. Shitcore is more fun to make and listen to.

>>129796526That just sounds more focused with ambient less drum and bass. Might as well just listen to ambient music.
>>129796526>Most dnb lately is just edgy lolicoreIts a good thing I dont live in the same deranged bubble you faggots do. Most people getting into drum and bass these days are bunch of anime nerds that can only enjoy music with weeb aesthetics. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLUOmqFIlc4&list=RDtLUOmqFIlc4&start_radio=1
>>129804927>6 minutes>same 3 song sections repeated twice>1, maybe 2 distinct chord progressions>second half is sonically identical to the firstThis is kind of what I’m talking about though. Whether it’s this or some anime/ps2 nostalgia slop, the bones are repetitive, uninspired, and lack imagination. These producers are great at building an atmosphere but where’s the sauce? They refuse to take the listener on a journey. It just sits with one idea and doesn’t go anywhere with it.A track can be melodically and percussively repetitive, but no textural experimentation at all? No exploration of space? There’s a fine line between meditative and just copy pasting bars in a DAW.It’s part of why I made this thread. I’ve found that this subgenre of dnb at least plays with the formula a bit. It’s 2026, to use the same formula of people who were hunched over Trackers or MPCs in the 90’s is just… lazy? Like these tracks, the melodies aren’t repetitive, not super fresh or interesting. The drum samples as mostly the same but damn, Dusqk knows how to play with texture like a fiddle: https://youtu.be/MCs5DLkVtXM?si=IkusOllsPIKnNCPthttps://youtu.be/4dpSFwZXBMQ?si=yPbTc4g-wosMngR2Subtlety can go a long way, samples of rain, pulling certain VSTs back in the mix, little FM modulated synth stabs. The tracks feel alive despite their ingredients being really painfully simple.Obviously it’s all a matter of taste but I just personally like to feel like there’s a story being told. I’m a runner and come from a percussion background so this music really transforms long runs.
>>129796526its nice and chill but holy shit how tranny coded do you have to make it?
>>129804927 #Gotta say though, the 303 scream transitioning into a bubbly triangle wave synth was a fucking nice touch, and so were the (African?) drum fills. It’s not a bad track at all, just trying to illustrate a point. The centeal drum loop really does need some eq variation though, major ear fatigue around the 3 minute mark… >>129805507Afaik dusqk is just some dude, he has dyed blonde hair which is pretty gay but seems far from troon territory
