They refuse to take the listener on a journey. There’s a fine line between meditative and just copy pasting bars in a DAW.It’s part of why I made this thread. I’ve found that this subgenre of dnb at least plays with the formula a bit. It’s 2026, to use the same formula of people who were hunched over Trackers or MPCs in the 90’s is just… lazy? Like these tracks, the melodies aren’t repetitive, not super fresh or interesting. The tracks feel alive despite their ingredients being really painfully simple.Obviously it’s all a matter of taste but I just personally like to feel like there’s a story being told. I’m a runner and come from a percussion background so this music really transforms long runs.
