There is nothing sonically wrong with stomp clap hey music. The only reason it gets shit on is because it got oversaturated and associated with a particularly unlikable stereotype of people

Fleet Foxes mogs Mumford and Goys
>>

Good example. Fleet Foxes are great, despite being Stomp Clap Hey. Mumford is just the biggest example.
>>
>>129798966
yeah it's not bad but its sincerity seems a little cringe to zoomers
>>
>>129798973
Josh Tillman mogged Fleet Foxes after he left to start his own solo career, and none of his shit is slop clamp hey

A particular subgenre of white people, but yeah I think there was a racial element
>>
>>129799230
Nickelback wasn't that bad, people just like to hate en masse
>>
>>129798997
The issue is that it wasn't actually sincere but was curated to seem that way. The hipster music it borrows from tends to bury actual sincerity under irony, but that's difficult to popularize.
>>
>>129799460
>wasn't sincere
why do you say that?
>>
>>129799428
They weren’t that good either
>>
>>129798993
Fleet Foxes aren't stomp clap hey at all, dumb fuck
>>
>>129799524
No, they weren't, but there's much worse music out there
>>
>>129799533
They've got moments

It's mainstreamed folk pop for car commercials that uses indie vibes with simplistic lyrics and keeps rehashing the same motifs (eg. stomps, claps, heys) over and over. It's based on hipster type stuff but sanitized everything interesting about that kind of music. It's sonically catchy with appealing melodies, but isn't as interesting as it should be.
>>
>>129798966
the music is downstream of its audience, you can't have one without the other
>>
>>129799550
I don’t hear the heys
>>
>>129799556
Sounds like you're saying it's unadventerous, not insincere
>>
>>129799558
Dumb take, I can listen to an artist without engaging with their audience

You guys don't know this because you're not Canadian, but Canada is actually fated to ruin a genre of music once a generation.

Nickelback? Canadian.
Justin Bieber? Canadian, kills the teenager boy star in the 00's.
Drake? Canadian, kills modern Hip-hop recently making it shit.
Basically give it time, a Canadian artist will soon adopt the genre before making the worst song of the genre that's so bad no one wants to perform that type of music for the next 20 years.

He meant tradlarping onions yuppies
>>
>>129798966
Stomp clap just reminds me of the last time anyone was optimistic or looked forward to the future at all so I can't hate it
>>
>>129799644
Man, so many times when music doesn’t feel right/is uncanny, I look them up and they’re Canadian.
>Godspeed - pretentious trash, very Canadian
>Rush - Canadian screeching vocals
>Billy talent - see above
>Arcade Fire - progenitors of hipster trash and stomp clap
