What is it about the Beatles songwriting that made them so unique?I've noticed that they did some songs with no actual chorus or musical hooks. I've heard some beatles-like songs following this format, for example Billy Joel (Laura and Surprises), but there are plenty of songs that also do it without sounding like the Beatles. So what was it?

>>129806215It's the AABA form, it was common in popular music before the mid-50s, which people today don't listen to much. Also associated with jazz, because many of these songs became jazz standards. It's interesting, because it requires a completely different way of melodic development and song structure than the verse-chorus structure which seems to have became the norm around the arrival of rock'n'roll. Very few songwriters (outside of jazz) care to master it today.https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thirty-two_bar_form
