Tonight's listen:The Wildweeds - No Good to Cry: The Best of the WildweedsLate-60's blue-eyed soul and pop rock from Connecticut's finest, including future NRBQ member Big Al Anderson on vocals, guitar, and most of the songwriting. The title is a bit of a stretch as nearly half the tracks were previously unreleased. The title track is an absolute banger, but including it in mono, stereo, and instrumental configurations borders on overkill -- especially when a couple other songs on the album already sound very similar to it. The rest of the material ranges from decent soul-rockers to what I can only describe as the Beach Boys outtake from my nightmares. Don't look up how much this CD goes for on eBay.6.4/10
