>>129823826It's good for the guitarists whose fingers are too weak to bend the G string.
>>129823826>>129824529It's baroque tuning, more or less. It basically was E once upon a time. Bach played Eb standard, if you think about it. The king of them all.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cGnZHIY_hoQ
>>129824718Bach didn't play guitar. He played clavichord, harpsichord, organ, the violin, and the lautenwerk (which is likely what is guitar pieces were originally written for); but not guitar, and only debatably the lute.
>>129824953I'm just talking about historical pitch. The OP didn't say anything about guitars per se.If you want to negate Bach, feel free, but it only enhances this if you keep him around.
>>129823826>meanwhile Alexi Laiho:C# standort
>>129825066Alexi played in D standard or drop C Dumbass
Some Sabbath songs are C# standard at least. The real chuggy ones, like Children of the Grave.
>>129825091Which is funny because the first two albums the tuning is actually E standard tuned UP due to speeding up the record To play along to Paranoid or War Pigs you have to tune up
>>129823826As a fellow lefty player of reversed Strats i can perhaps explain why Jimi tuned down to Eb. He probably didn't get a new nut cut and just flipped the right handed one around - making the scale length a few mm longer and affecting how the string sits on the nut and it would mean putting the saddles right back. All meaning the string tension is higher so tuning down made it easier to play

C sharp standard with low string tuned to B is the way to go
