I got my SP404Sx on facebook marketplace for $225 CAD about a month ago. Its a lot of fun

Do you guys know any artists / produce music with this device
How does this compare to other samplers on the market? Lets discuss !!

i was literally looking for a cheap one last night :(
nothing yet

The one I got for 225 was totally full of scratches, dirt and the pads were worn out.
It looked like hell, but I managed to take it apart and Isopropyl wiped down everything. I slapped some stickers on and now its totally mine.

Trust me, they're awesome. But make sure you know the limitations for the older models (SX / A / OG). You can only have an effect on 1 pad at a time, and the sample splicing I find to be kind of retarted.

Im a fan of simplicity, and I dont like the MK2 with the screen that much (from what ive seen from videos). But I can 1000% see how the screen will help immensly with slicing the start / end of samples. I also know it can have multiple effects on different pads all at once.
All in all i LOVE my SX. but its honestly pretty rudimentary, which some people like while others will be discouraged

the mkii is pretty good but the interface is rough. many great features but with weird button combos to access them.

the old 404s have speed going for them but at the expense of not having real pitch shifting and an amp envelope and the effects limitations you mentioned.

oh and madlib on the 303 (basically a limited 404 og) around the madvillainy era

That sounds cheap for Canadian pesos.

get good with the mark button. since the memory is pretty huge, you can usually get away with just marking the start points and playing the chops on gate mode.

Hell yeah, thanks for the artist suggestions
I honestly much prefer the very analog style interface with the older versions. I can imagine the MK2 becoming a classic in a few decades, especially if they release more models in the future, but I really wasnt gonna dish out 450-600 bucks (for used ones). I can tell they have much more capabilities tho. A feature I wish the older models have is a volume normalizer. Some pads are either too loud / quiet which is a pain to manually adjust, I think the MK2 has an automatic normalizer for all pads

I been seeing those "Dr Boss Sampler" (303's) for like 350 used (CAD). Super dope and renowned devices, but probably too limited for modern use. Also too few pads ngl. Only makes sense for chopping actual long samples into full blown tracks

This is fire man ! Really cool, I've been listening and I really dig the sound here. TEAM CANADUH BABYEEE

Thats true, I remember accidentally removing the mark and erasing all my hard earned timing. The visual start / end on the MK2 is unbeatable, although I know ill master it eventually

no problem. i get excited when i see 404 talk in the wild.

yeah i take the normalization feature for granted. i think for older 404s you just have to use the peak light for reference when recording. if it's too low you can possible boost it using the EQ or isolator mfx and of course carefully use the compressor (shit gets extreme quick)

the 303 is very limited but coveted just for the vinyl sim compression effect that was stupidly removed from the sx but the compressor mfx 12 is good enough.

and yeah, team canaduh's great. there's like four tapes by them as a group.
