What are your tips for writing songs? For me personally I really struggle to write a full song. I get little ideas and guitar noodles but struggle to really tie it all together in a cohesive way that I can later add lyrics too. If I simplify then I get paranoid that I'm being overly simplistic in my songwriting.

>>129838392Try and write something outside of your comfort area, pick an odd time signature for example. I did that once trying for a 5/8 ended up with a banging riff in 4/4
>>129838392Stop worrying about meeting any expectations. First and foremost just have fun with your own music. Pick up your guitar and start jamming whatever, without any pretense of trying to write a song. Before you know it you will stumble upon some idea that you will want to develop further and things will flow from there.
