Are we ever going to get a new full-blown genre of music that isn't just a subgenre of something that already exists?
>>129840102>weNo, but humanity will. We just won't live to see it. Frankly we don't deserve to.
>>129840160Just crazy it's been nearly 50 years since hip-hop, and everything since then has just been some variation of rock or rap or electronic music
>>129840102Yes. It's called singeli
>>129840102No, because no matter what you'll find a way to reduce it to subgenre of something else. Rock is a subgenre of blues, hip hop is a subgenre of dub reggae, blues is a subgenre of spirituals, pop is a subgenre of showtunes, etc etc etc
No because that's not really how music works. It evolves, every genre at some point split off from another.
>>129844046It got distinct enough to where we can have classical and rock music, though. It's anyone's guess whether it will happen again, but the way things are going now it seems we've just been going in circles for quite a while.
>>129844064invention of new techniques of music making leads to new genres. every new technique now will be electronic. it's the death of genres. all hail the slop singularity
My friend Billy made a new genre called Billycore
>>129844591Tell Billy I just blew his genre out of the fucking water by inventing Post-Billycore
>>129840102Hip Hop is electronic music
>>129844546electronic music is literally the best music though
>>129840102"Electronic" isn't a genre any more than "guitar" is a genre. Most of what is called "electronic" is really a subgenre of disco.
>>129840102No. The last new genre was jazz fusion.
>>129840102Who cares bout getting a new genre when 90% of a genre is always shit? Why not make good music. What already exist apparently is too hard to master for 90% of the population...Except Rap because Rap is not music.
>>129846910>No. The last new genre was jazz fusion. And it's one of the best and allows for several ways of approaching music and melody
>>129840102why not just invent a new color while you're at it
