How do you sit on tracks like the ghetto walk, ascent, and early minor for decades without ever releasing them? they’re better than the majority than the stuff that makes it onto his albums.

This guy was a hack
>>
miles could be picky with track listings and whatnot. i agree they're good though, but back then bonus tracks were rarely a thing in jazz other than alternate tracks
>>

>>129855300
did miles even have much say over what ended up on the records? i thought he and his band would just record a ton of shit and then teo macero would actually create the tracks through editing.
>>
>>129855257
Miles had a very Prince-esque mentality to him where if something wasn't absolutely perfect (in his eyes) he wouldn't release it.
>>
>>129855345
Shocking because everything I've ever heard from him is terrible. Meanwhile Scriabin forgot he wrote this.

of course he did, he's bandleader and it's all his concept. i've read his autobiography, he talks about this stuff for several albums
>teo macero would actually create the tracks through editing.
i can imagine this being the case for some of his albums but it wasnt the norm
>>
>>129855379
>but it wasnt the norm
seems like it was from what i have read.
>>
>>129855390
did you read ai summaries or did you read books
>>
>>129855257
jazz is so spur of the moment and improvisational that you have to get used to the mindset that only a fraction of what you play makes it into the studio. it's very likely the case that the best shit most jazzers played was unrecorded in some random nightclub, they take that mentality into the studio all the time. as long as the selected tracks represent the tone and quality of the overall session, most jazz musicians won't be big sticklers over the final result. albums with heavier emphases on composition will probably be exceptions, like a mingus or shorter album probably.
>>
>>129855404
maybe you should do more research on teo's involvement in the albums and not be a condescending faggot.
>>
>>129855436
>dodges the question
>>
>>129855458
>dodges the gaps in his own knowledge
>>

Did you only listen to the third stream and fusion-era albums? This isn't the MO for most Miles albums, especially the main quintet ones.
>>
>>129855530
>thread is about the complete silent way sessions
so that's what i was talking about...
>>
>>129855541
You used the word "records" as in plural.
>>
>>129855553
yes he produced many records around that time period.
>>
>>129855571
Are you going to answer my question or not?
>>
>>129855576
which one?
>>
>>129855390
ted only worked on like 5 of his albums. doesn't sound like the norm to me, anon.
>>
>>129855598
it was during the time period of in a silemt way....
>>
>>129855596
>>129855530
>>
>>129855604
Then stop using ambiguous ESL phrasings, you type like a drunken toddler. Anything else?
>>
>>129855257
>ghetto walk, ascent, and early minor
Fusionslop for rock-kiddies. Not music
>>129855364
Insufferable "pick me" post but at least what you posted is music
>>
>>129855606
yes i have hear his other albums. but obviously i was not referring to them because those earlier albums were not produced by macero, and not relevant to my original point, which is that teo edited and curated the released version of in a silent way, not miles, which may explain op's observation. so being so gay and argumentative and just have a regular conversation.
>>
>>129855620
How does anyone have a "regular conversation" with someone who writes like a brain-damaged nog
>>
>>129855257
Yeah, this is a 10
