Tonight's listen:Stud Cole - Burn Baby BurnThis album, originally released in a quantity of just 100 copies in 1968, almost defies description. It's like if an Elvis impersonator dropped acid with a suburban L.A. garage band, or if Conway Twitty had tried shifting to trippy blues-rock instead of country. On some tracks he sings with a swaggering, seductive edge, while on others he struggles to even stay in time with the melody (by the way, three of the songs share the exact same backing track). This borders on being outsider music -- There's very little else like it. As one may expect, original copies of this record are immensely rare. This CD reissue is supplemented by a handful of more straightforward rock 'n' roll tunes from earlier in the decade.8.4/10https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ba4rWumUVFQ
