What is the natural evolution of symphonic rock? In 2026, I mean.A relative keeps listening to "Yes", "Genesis", "Pink Floyd" and the usual classics, but I’d like to suggest something new to him. After a quick research, I told him to check out "Steven Wilson" and "Wobbler" with a very positive reception, but I feel like there’s more to it.Which direction has the genre evolved in, and what tags should I look for? Eclectic rock, atmospheric…?
>>129863991Steven Wilson never really made symphonic prog, that album is more inspired by King Crimson than Yes or GenesisIf you want modern bands in simlar style you should check Big Big Train, Spock's Beard or Flower Kings
>>129864013I appreciate the answer. I’ve heard a bit of Big Big Train (Woodcut) and The Flower Kings, but Spock's Beard is new to me. I’ll give it a listen.
Haven't I listened to this album before? Doesn't it start with a sick jazz rock flute lead but then suddenly get very boring so I turned it off? Prog rock is so dorky.
