It's relaxing. There's beauty to the simplicity of folk music but much of it is saccharine, dark folk offers a depth, it's more grounded in reality. I love the naturalistic themes. The largely acoustic instrumentation fits it so perfectly. It's timeless, you could stumble into some isolated civilization in a remote area frozen in any period of time and hear music like this and it's such a wonderful feeling. https://youtu.be/_iF7lkXKHlA
