learn your theory and shape m8, you don't even need to read sheet music for that
>>
>>129871033
My biggest problem is learning chords. Obviously it's three notes stacked on top of each other but the accidentals ruin me and I can't figure out the chord quality before the music passes me
This is a pianotard problem though

Octaves and sevenths are the easiest intervals for me
Are you doing the intervals exercise or intervals in context? All exercises labeled "functional" are strictly better than the basic ones

anyone good at playing with slide? apparently it's easier to play slide when your guitar is plugged on amp over unplugged because being unplugged makes the string you slide but not picked being equally loud with the note you're meant to hit, or at least that's my experience.

bass boosted music is in the same category as "slowed down with reverb" mixes on youtube. its for children who want to feel like music producers but can't approach it in a less simplistic way than pressing a button or dragging a slider

Yeah, slide is best with brass on pinky for acoustic, glass for electric.

The secret is the higher action and thicker strings gives you a better sound and muting capabilities, as pressing down prevents rattling/buzzing underneath the slide, which can sometimes be a desirable sound.
>longass sentence

Also, mute behind the slide to prevent extraneous noise (which is actually the slide “fretting” both side of the contact points. This is a big issue on electric for feedback.

Also, open tunings work best, as you don’t have to angle the slide as much. Open C, Open D, and Open G are my go-to’s in order or difficulty. You can even slide the harmonics from different node points. I spend a lot of slime in altered tunings from these variations because 7th chords sound like SEX. DGDF#BD is a good one; so is CGCGBD (Pete Seeger tuning?). Pay attention to where you can mix and match minor thirds, major thirds, major sixths, minor sixths. Otherwise it just sounds like Carnatic music after you run out of ideas
>slime’ll never run out of ideas but you will

Precision for slide requires that you hover just over the fret wire (not just before it like fretting). Palm muting is your friend because of lots of resonance. Finger picks give you lots of control.

>slime plays slide like a mofo

I don't really give a shit about brands, I just wanna play guitar man. But thanks for that warning, I ordered the Yamaha.

>>
>>129874854
just make sure you are internalizing the sound of the pattern also or you’ll just have to go back and practice audiation later anyway once your memorize the shape visually. I know this sounds like obvious advice but you really can’t overstate its importance

Like recognizing the sound of the scales? Yeah I am working on that. My jam group pretty much always plays in minor so thats the scale I'm working on the most.

>>129875052
Yeah it cost $20. I mainly play bass but I'm learning a bit of guitar so I can add to my own songs.
>>
>>129875097
Yea I was just saying don’t get in a hurry to just memorize the patterns. There’s no race take your time
>>
>>129874854

yea, something about translating it into a different format/medium sets a good foundation
>>
>>129875021
this'll happen naturally as you practice. the sheet is just for reference before you have it internalized because otherwise you don't even know what to play
>>
Buying a BOSS super overdrive SD-1W. What cables do I need? Only other accessory I have for my guitar is a KATANA Amp

https://youtu.be/UDldJx-Txsw
>>
>>129875270
yes but ideally it would be great if they happened at the same rate so you can move on to practicing other concepts
>>
>>129875382
Why are you arguing semantics of dirt boxes if your amp isn't already very good? Cheap stomps open new sounds with already great platform amps. They're less likely to turn amps you don't like into something usable.
>>
>>129875382
you missed the point. the katana has both overdrive and distortion built-in. the same as what's in the pedals
>>
>>129873954
if you add in all the tonal options and comfort cuts it becomes a strat, so just go buy a strat

you should always buy a guitar based on looks because everything else can be fixed easily
