This album was more groundbreaking than anything The Beatles have ever done.
>>
>>129893657
>was in kinda notable band for a bit that got a little traction
>leaves, starts solo project, explodes in popularity
has anyone else done this? only other example i can think of is damon albarn with the gorillaz
>>
>>129893657
okay zoomie, whatever you say
>>
>>129893700
zoomers were not listening to dubstep in early grade school. skrillex was all milliennial

the beatles doesn't make anything besides hippy acoustic music that every other brit boy group was making at the time

frank sinatra was better
>>
>>129893657
"The seething din of millennials faded into the warming night, their cries of "the Beatles fucking suck" and "Boomers are to blame for all my failings" were dampened to silence by the mist, and drown by the morning dew.
But they'd be awake by early afternoon, only to start the plaintive ritual again; the melancholy wailing bouncing off the backlit screens and cereal boxes surrounding them, while members of other generations, working, raising families, contributors all, heard nothing of it. The local flora turned as deaf an ear as the fauna, and the cloudless sky, too; and so continued the spiteful blameful opera voiced by the directionless adherents of America's voluntary class of malding malaisial millennials."

Bangarang has 2x as many views on Youtube as The Beatles most viewed video
>>
It made a lot of noise figuratively and literally. But it didn't have staying power. It wasn't very good. There was better obnoxious brostep being made back then. It's enormous rise sunk the entire genre and took it from the hot new thing to a punchline to something very niche. Nobody really gives a shit about it anymore except hipster fags like you looking for something to ironically latch onto.

Skrillex fans are so gay they have to pretend to “ironically troll” /mu/ with this dubslop to feign discussion even if it’s people shitting on Sonny for a majority ofnthe thread. Anyways Burial and Untrue had legitimate long lasting influence on the industry
>>
>>129893657
Damn that picture brought back some memories lmao
>>
>>129901217
I always found Burial to be so boring. Dubstep as a concept was interesting but I didn't like a lot of what got hyped up. It was like a lot of it was just reviving ragga jungle stereotypes, but slow. Or it would be grey cloudy day moody shit that makes me sleepy like Burial. Being a dnb head I was up for slower bass heavy music that was intense but I had trouble finding stuff I liked. These are a few things I enjoyed from that era:

I was around 16 when this album hit the mainstream good and proper. It was really good times.

It may seem super cringe now but the le random, minecraft playing, adventure time, internet culture becoming cemented into the zeitgeist but theres no doom scrolling yet was an interesting time.

I was a nerdy kid so I preferred 2007 internet. Wish I was a bit older to experience even more nerdy internet like early 2000s. I was 7 in 2000
>>
>>129901249
people realised dubstep is gay and went back to drum and bass, the true overlord of dance music

Some vintage clownstep there. The flip is better.

If you're gonna try to hype up dnb, a genre deader than shit, at least post something that's not cringe gay clown shit.

Is this supposed to be "new"? Even my unc ass heard it in high school. DNB started sucking ass by mid 00's anyway.

>DNB started sucking ass by mid 00's anyway.
I disagree. It was still good up until the 2010s. I know there was a lot of good stuff coming out still but I lost my passion for it. So many people dying didn't help either. RIP to legends like Marcus Intalex, Spirit, or even the older generation like Tango, Randall, etc. It will never be as exciting as it was in the 2000s or as polished as it was in the early 2010s with all the weird minimal stuff serving as a counterpoint.

I think I tapped out before then but I started listening to more of it again recently. There's always stuff that's done in a way I like and other things that are at least interesting. I can judge it both subjectively and objectively because of how obsessed I used to be. I was listening to probably more of it than even the top DJs in the scene were lmao. I first got into it around 2001-2002 so the 2000s is when my favorite stuff came out but I'm starting to listen to more jungle and hardcore now. Before I stopped listening I went all the way back really trying to trace it's roots to the acid house days listening to old Centreforce tapes and stuff like that.
>>
>>129902114
>Burials sound was over after 1 year
You’re actually retarded because I said the industry as a whole. Burial was a huge influence on spacey ambient rap like a lot of Drake tracks.

not music. Listen to Burial

I'm not really into brostep like that but at least it isn't dull. Being annoyed because something is obnoxious is a feeling, an emotion that comes from what I am hearing. I don't want to sit around in a lethargic lull feeling empty inside.

All I wanted was for him to go back to From First to Last. He’s STILL doing this edm side project.

Bangarang has only 0.5 billion streams on Spotify. And many Beatles uploads have been deleted over the years. You're such a loser for caring about dubstep in the 2026, especially as someone who is older than 13

posting and sperging about pure pussy-repellent again? lmao kys

People might hate Skrillex, but he took a sound and did something new and wild with it, spawning a new generation of talent.
Just like how people took garage and DnB and fused them together, spawning a new generation of talent.

Well a lot of Burial’s tracks aren’t “danceable” but it’s just an interesting take on UK Garage beats, the production is still upbeat on songs like Near Dark and Archangel if that makes sense

The only really groundbreaking thing about it was Scary Monsters Growl bass. To this day, nobody has really managed to recreate that bass correctly. Alot has come close, but it's still very unique sounding.
As for the rest of it, it's nothing groundbreaking at all. Most of it is just a mashup of Electro House, Drum'n'Bass and French House (alot of Justice influence on this album)

If you pay close attention, alot of the songs sounds alot like Sonny was trying to make Justice songs but with soft synths instead of samples, but the influence is way more obvious on his first Skrillex EP "My Name Is Skrillex"
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gvx5QM8nrZA

I like alot of Skrillex older stuff though, pre trap influence.

Blur was a phenomenon in 93-97
