Partly because they put out one mediocre album after another between 2012 - 2022, culminating in one of the worst of the year. Had they taken a break after the release of the Resistance/Drones, nostslgia would help, and wider reevaluation would have happened.

Early Muse pre-OOS was heavily inspired by Radiohead. Listen to Radiohead's Pearly*, compare to Muse's Showbiz era stuff. That being said, after Kid A and Absolution, the two bands had nothing in common. Radiohead went electronic and Muse went stadium rock.
