>COMING TO YOU LIVE FROM A DUMPY LITTLE BUILDING IN CULVER CITY
I was disappointing to learn that the announcer's name wasn't even Jack, his real name is Howard Cogan. Everything is a lie man

Lots of great old Canadian rock with those guys.

Do they hire a different guy depending on the station/region? I assume they don't because it's just corporate radio and there's no actual DJs in the studio anymore, they just record/rebroadcast. Here in LA at least that guy's real name is Howard Cogan, or at least it was when I still listened to the radio

>*song must be one of 150 pre-selected hit radio singles from a number of mainstream brand name artists as corporate has determined through statistical analysis that these songs hold the most casual audience retention to stay listening to the station up to commercials. Also the selections are automated

Songs moving from the alt-stations to JackFM is a good litmus test to determine when a band officially becomes Dadrock. Such as Green Day for example

>My GOD, I can't stand you people! I'm not even gonna give you a name! You know who you are, and you know WHAT you are, even though you all try to deny it.

>'Oh, not me! I just happen to be into waxed mustaches and looking like a street urchin from Charles Dickens!'

>It's over! Move on! The party has been shut down, and your name was NEVER on the list.

IHeartRadio/ClearChannel gutted the FM radio space so that's why all of the stations play the same shit

When the 'classic rock' and 'oldies' radio formats were developed in the 80's, the standard was usually 15 years. If a song was older than 15, it could be played on those stations. Therefore, anything released in 2011 or earlier is dadrock/oldies by now.

The big commercial radio operators don’t really care about the terrestrial signals anymore. Iheart is pushing their app pretty hard on their stations because the grown is going to be in digital media, obviously. It also allows for better targeted advertising and much more direct measurement of streaming numbers. Also, it causes the industry to move away from Nielsen, the guys who provide the ratings services and behave like a monopoly. Cumulus, another major radio conglomerate, is actually suing Nielsen, alleging monopolistic practices and inaccurate reporting. Cumulus is currently dealing with bankruptcy, though.

That’s a lot of words just to say: let the terrestrial commercial stations die. College stations and the non commercial stations are the only thing worth listening to on FM.
