Pickups are just conveniences for live. I could record one chord and you'd know how much better it is. It's the entire natural sound of the guitar coming through, rather than bridge or string vibrations...which works better for electrics. But I don't have a piece of shit piezo to compare anyways. The main time you heard piezos in recordings was when it was still relatively new and some dumb Lilith Fair chick didn't know better.
