>>129912303came here as soon as I found out. Wasn't specting a sticky but cmon. Is this board that shit right now? Used to lurk heavy 2012-2017 and was pretty decent considering how meme heavy it was
>>129912786>shitty zoomie reactions that just repeat lines and add nothingyep it's fucking over. what a total shame. really hoped there'd be at least a small amount of hype considering how monumental this is
>>129912786I came here to hopefully find more speculation and discussion around BOC and this new project, but I literally found more discussion on fucking reddit. Jesus Christ. Literally move to Reddit for your music discussion.
what did you want to say about it? theres no info, no date, no confirmation even. no new track or even snippet sample of music. theres literally nothing to talk about. except I suppose people could post "maybe album soon" over and over againIm not a teenager any more. if theres a new album, great. I'll listen to it and probably enjoy it when it comes out. I'll probably also come here to say what I think of it and find out what others think, but Im not going to sit around pulling my chicken while I wait.>>129912944>I literally found more discussion on fucking redditwhat are they saying?
>>129912958>what are they saying? They're actually analyzing the teaser VHS tape and what the images could meanhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4sjDZ2sGwg
https://bocpages.org/wiki/Old_Tunes_saga#2026In case anyone didn't know, someone bought and ripped the old tunes tapes and boc maxima so you can listen in high quality while you wait.
>BOCYawn... Call me when the album is out, I don't have time for their cryptic hype bullshit
>>129912326ThisPlus they are all poptimist retards
>>129913087I must admit the whole glitchy VHS ARG is lame afwatching that video I half expected to see grainy black and white footage of some twat in a plague doctor costume standing in an abandoned house with broken toys on the floor and all that crap, then I'd really believe we were back in 2010
>>129912958That’s the entire point of an ARG, though? It’s just another form of marketing. Generates hype for the upcoming album that spreads through word-of-mouth online. You don’t have to pay attention to all of it
>>129913049I didn't know this. I got the old, lower quality versions.
>>129912303I was here in 2013 and there was wayyyy more effort by /mu/ into solving the Tomorrow's Harvest ARG. I remember how hyped people were when Reach for the Dead dropped and then the disappointment when Tomorrow's Harvest dropped. It's a good record but anticlimactic given the hype they'd built up over the three-four month pr campaign (too subtle)
>>129912326>>129912786>>129912944>>129913093>>129913325>>129915426/mu/ died a long time ago. It died well over a decade ago.

>>129916873https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4sjDZ2sGwg
>>129916893But what does this mean? Where did the VHS come from? What is the context for this video?
>>129916934People have been getting sent that VHS with the video. The vhs has the BOC logo on it. It’s presumably a teaser for new music.
>>129916934From what I gather, random BOC fans are getting VHS tapes mailed to them. Probably fans who bought their music, a lot of their music. I suggest keeping an eye on BOC's subreddit
>>129912303>influentialLol. How so?BOC isnt that great
>>129917018>How so?Do you really need to be told that BOC are influential? They've inspired other electronic musicians like Four Tet to fucking Radiohead. Their sound is unique, very distinctive and highly acclaimed, of course they're gonna be influential.
>>129912303this looks like Destiny lol
I made a thread like 6 months about the kpop bullshit and was promptly deleted and banned kekJannies are either in on it or chan culture is just that bad nowEither seem highly likely, perhaps a combination of bothI am genuinely excited, I made one of the threads you mentionedTomorrow's Harvest was good but felt like a very one note depressing end to an otherwise dynamic catalogueLike it could be a soundtrack for a non existent movie, if that makes sense
>>129917187Kek
>>129912303Is this the skrillex twins?
>>129912303I'll believe the new LP hype when I see any genuine confirmation besides youtubers playing along with a potentially fake ARG
>>129917256I definitely agree with you on Tomorrow’s Harvest and I think that’s a pretty common sentiment. I hope that this album is more spooky like Geogaddi which judging by the teaser it might actually be.
>>129917508>like GeogaddiIt's funny you say that because I'm hoping for something more acoustic like The Campfire HeadphaseOr, if they go the spooky route something like In a Beautiful Place Out in the CountryBut I would appreciate anything at this point, reallyThe tape distribution being limited to first party purchasers is disappointing but understandableThey have no way of knowing I spent a shit ton on a Japanese copy of a CD with a bonus track sadly
>>129917256>>129917508>>129917701Am I the only one who truly loves Tomorrow's Harvest? It does indeed sound like a movie soundtrack about an apocalypse. Maybe that's why I love it so much.
>>129916987>OMG LITERALLY SHAKING RN!!!!!!!!!!Yup, that's reddit.>I suggest keeping an eye on BOC's subredditOr you could all stay there instead of coming here and spam reddit screenshots.>>129917134>to fucking RadioheadOh wow, the most boring and overrated band in the world! How cool is that?!
>>129912326We have literal boomers here now too
>>129920463No, I actually will come here, and guess, there's nothing you're going to do about it. Redditors are faggots, as clearly shown in the screenshots, yet how are these faggots more interested in discussing music than the "based" people here? What does that say about the people here?>Oh wow, the most boring and overrated band in the world! How cool is that?!They are huge and BOC inspired them. BOC are very influential. I do agree that Radiohead is overrated tho. Doesn't change that fact
>>129912393>go outside, the internet is evilThat's more of a noided deathgripsian message, too focused on personal agency. BoC is typically more nihilistic than that. They tend to focus on big picture stuff. Global warming, nuclear holocaust, the supernatural, etc. I don't think they believe it matters what we do. Tomorrow's Harvest and Geogaddi are artistic gestures that I think corroborate this. Obviously some of their stuff (e.g. Campfire Headphase) is tinged with a streak of hope but generally BoC is quite reclusive and bleak.
>>129913087>I don't have time for their cryptic hype bullshitthat's like 50% of what boards of canada even is
I'm worried bros. Their last album was so final and predictive it seems like a really hard record to top even though it was considered a disappointment at first.
>>129912303It's probably because this is such a boring way to create hype around an album. Didn't they do the same thing in 2013? I don't really have the energy these days to play games for three months straight before hearing any kind of music, I'll just wait patiently until the album comes out and I can listen to it.
>>129920889me when i can't have fun because i'm busy being a miserable old morbidly obese middle-aged faggot with the personality of a jug of milk left in a hot car for 6 months
>>129921014You should probably get all that sorted out
>>129917508>>129920889>>129920434Funny you say this, Tomorrow's Harvest literally begins with a movie style jingle. That's the basic read that it's supposed to be a soundtrack to an unseen Threads style movie. But the tracks are recominational (unsurprisingly for a concept album about atomic war), so the "dual albums" (track 1-9 / track 10 - 17), reverse order and "paired" sequence (1, 18, 2, 17, ect) are also legitimate ways to listen.I think a lot of people write it off as being bleak or one note because it's varying the same theme with a slow tension ratchet and a pretty overt narrative, no mysticism, just the looming anxiety of war and then death.New Seeds is one of the coolest things they've made ever though, imo. Like the track implies a tense effort to preserve life, presumably with a seed vault, hence the staccato fast tempo guitars that sound like telegraphs. Then like 2 mins in, you start hearing all these choral voices that have really cavernous reverb tails, the kind of which are only possible in long deep spaces, implying descent into the vault but because it comes after "sundown" and just before the apocalyptic "come to dust", it always struck me that the implication was that the choral voices are supposed to be screams, smoothed out into angelic cries by the reverb tail of the vault's absurd depth. (the same voices reprise after the artillery drum loop in "come to dust" btw)idk, part of me thinks that maybe the problem with Tomorrow's Harvest is that it happened in 2013 when the optimism of early millennialism hadn't quite worn off. Maybe if it dropped now or even like 2018, it'd be hailed as their best.
>/mu/ is so dead not even new BoC gets the board excited beyond a few unlucky souls who are still stuck here 10 years after its death Makes me sad, not even trying to be a whiny asshole or anything it's just sad.
or maybe there's just not as much demand for mood music sloppa anymore now that AI can whip it up in seconds

>>129921563I honestly fear for the worst for their new release. I genuinely think it might bomb. They've been out of the game for so long now and their records are so critically acclaimed, it's hard to match it, let alone exceed it.
>>129923102both their last two albums were relatively weakly received by the fanbase in general and still got a decent audience. It should be ok
>>129923128the more I listen to campfire headphase the more I like it, it's gotten to the point where it's my most listened to album by them and I'd probably call it my favorite by now, at least tied with Geogaddi.TH is good but I just don't revisit it that often
>>129923223What about Music Has The? It's their best IMO.
>>129923841It's the best music album at all IMO
>>129922666>>129923087BoC is worse than fucking AFX. BoC's 'influence', as a result, gave us shit bands and artists that plebs like.
>>129924118Why are you such a faggot? Genuine question. It seems that BOC has unfortunately become too popular like Aphex, so now we gotta them. Right? Name some artists from that era that were better. Autechre? I really wanna hear this
>>129924118>gave us shit bands and artists that plebs like.whomst?
What's the reason they're not releasing this shit? They have a shit ton of unofficial unreleased tracks, can't they create a compilation or something? Do you not want your music to be out there officially as an artist? It's not like their unreleased tracks are dogshit. There are some really good tracks there.
>>129925516seeing as how they're nigh on perfectionists, the early stuff must rough as shit and not worth trying to rejig. No way we don't get a comp full of of rare/unreleased stuff in the public domain eventually though.
