What have you all been listening to?
just her piano and her voice (with the exception of a couple tracks), not groundbreaking but really nice stuffhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcO-756_GoU
I don't care for Joe Henderson.
>>129913900Why? Inb4 comparing him to Coltrane
HOLY SHIT
Mostly filling out gaps in other discogs I haven't finished. >>129913900Same. I like his later 70s stuff but his Blue Note era was mostly pretty boring.
Jan Garbarek binge.
meh
>>129916558This one is better.
>>129916558one of my favoriteshttps://youtu.be/qcJtKrkxK10?si=X1OrGus1piny9qtZ
>>129913250I know u black skinned chocolate men dont like Jazz Fusion in these threads but i dont give af, the Japanese mog at it:https://youtu.be/hpy-l99hYcg?si=ZZUs0LqEgxrDWqGP&t=2301Still tripping on this album with zero drugs, just to the harmony within it over and over on a loop until I get tired of it.
Discovered Lee Konitz recently, shit is fire.
>>129914004i've never seen anyone compare him to coltrane, retarded comment
>>129916496>I like his later 70s stuff Which ones, pretty sure I'm mainly familiar with his Blue Note albums
>>129916690
>>129913900This is the only Joe I know. It's not a bad album, it sounds good and listenable when its on. The problem is that its so fucking long. Its from the cd era so they had to make it fill 70+ minutes. This hurts the album because "this got boring I'm turning it off" is not a good impression to leave the listener with. I paid 1 dollar for this at a used furniture store and feel that was a fair price.Everything else on my chart is certified fire. Music for when a delicious black woman is sucking on your BWC after the day is over and the kids are asleep.
Who's jazzin' it up tonite?!
>>129917694Solid lineup.
We posting charts?
>>129916690>u black skinned chocolate menThere's 0 chance anybody who posts in these jazz threads is black.
>>129917591Well I have, retard
>>129917591Retard
Henderson is just kind of always too safe if that makes sense.
>>129914004I don't mind comparing him to Coltrane because I vastly prefer Henderson. The fact he was featured in hundreds of incredible albums speaks for himself. He managed to land on a tasteful space between blues infused playing and the most adventurous modal music, never getting absorbed by histrionics and other worthless experiments like Coltrane did, instead recording a bunch of masterpieces to his own name while being requested to perform on some of the greatest jazz albums of all time.
>>129917796Impeccable taste on everything but the Coltrane obsession. However im the same way about Mingus so i cant talk too much shit. Tip of the fedora to you anon
Miles fags fuck off, especially electric Miles fags.
>>129917796>>129919029Wow is this your first time listening to jazz? Both of these look like baby's first chart. Impeccable taste if you want to be labelled a pseud.>>129919155They will seethe but this is correct. When people say they don't like 70s jazz they really mean they only listened to Miles during his worst period. He wanted to be funky but had a stick so far up his ass he never found the 1. Had to rely on Ted Macero, a white man, to edit his pointless jams into something they could release.
>>129918712>>129918736>self-reporting this hardthats what you get for discussing jazz with RYM trannies, real jazzfags would never believe in something that ignorant kek. what next, mozart sounds like scriabin?
>>129917796>>129919029>flavorless white boy taste
>>129913900I don't care for you!
>>129921170see>>129918974
Didn't know /mu/ disliked Coltrane. Giant Steps, Blue Train are Jazz classics in my book. A Love Supreme and My Favorite Things are wonderful as well.
>>129921349We do like him. I think people are just taking the piss out of jazz snobs. Most people seem to have issues with his later free jazz stuff.>at least I do
>>129921349Nobody dislikes him but we do dislike the legions of millions of retards who don't even listen to jazz and still claim he's some sort of god
Roast my taste, /mu/
>>129923665Actually there isn't anything to roast. This is the least gay-coded chart in the thread.Good work anon!
>>129921583ew
>>129923665>rockisti appreciate the forwardness, and for that reason, i'm giving you a pass
>>129918787It does make sense. He somehow manages to create lifeless muzak out of bop vocabulary. Almost impressive.
Spinnin some more Sonny right now. I remember picking this up because it had "I'm an Old Cowhand" on it. I used to jam out to this Jack Teagarden version of ithttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cE9R8BewzLA&list=RDcE9R8BewzLA&start_radio=1But I was too young to really get into bop so I didn't really listen to the rest of the album much. Anyways 10 years later what a treat to hear this for the first time again. Here's Sonny's version.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nlatJOsLhPA&list=RDnlatJOsLhPA&start_radio=1What should I listen to after this? George Benson - Bad BensonJohn Coltrane - Blue Trane Coming>a bootleg looking greatest hits lp from 2018

Skibidi bop bidi bump
Miles Davis' Cookin'/Relaxin'/Workin'/Steamin' quadrilogy is criminally underrated.
>>129920358>>129921177Most jazz sounds like retarded, meandering slop. Sorry that the guys who made actual creative compositions are more popular.
>>129917960interesting. didnt know that.
>>129928258There's a good chance most posters aren't even american.
2026 summer jam
>>129928258>>129928315Also most posters in these threads don't even want to talk about jazz.
