With a decade of hindsight, what were the shittiest/most annoying hit songs of the 2010's?

Happy

wrecking ball is at least better than we can't stop.
>>
>>129916361
I'd say maggie rodgers, but her music is so awfilly boring and shitty, they weren't a "hit" (though they did assault the ears) so I'd go with something a little better, like Dance Monkey.

we can't stop is a great song, fool. kino video also

There were some ghastly hits in the early-10's.

Terrible song indeed, so fucking ridiculous.
>>
>>129916361
the early 2010s were vapid but so much more fun than the slop that started coming up around 2015

>ostensible adults everywhere lapping it up
Truly a grim point for society

If I told you why that was it would turn the thread into /pol/ so I won't.

US discovering electronic music and creating an entire entire era of obnoxious Trouse/Brostep. (Extra damage since it did to awesome 1990s/2000s dance music producers what 1980s did to late 60s/70s rock bands. Turned them all into absolute shit chasing US $$$ and copious amounts of Cocaine)
Basically all Miami, Reggaeton awfulness.
Purposely obnoxious meme music like the fox say song.
Fake indie Triple J shit, like Lana, Sia, Monsters & Men, Mumford & Sons etc
Happy.
Fireworks.
Fight Song.
Somebody I used to know.
>>
>>129916380
No way. Wrecking Ball was absolute slop, the kind of generic treacly ballad you'd expect an American Idol contestant to be saddled with as their winner's single. There's a reason it's only remembered for the music video. We Can't Stop was a fun catchy song in the same vein as Party in the USA.
>>
>>129919972
>Fight Song.
Honestly, this trash and all the other wine aunt self-help anthems that sounded exactly like it - I think Pink alone had shat out like ten of them by the end of the decade - were the absolute nadir of 2010s pop. Even worse than stomp clap hey and only rivaled by the Black Eyed Peas.
>>
>>129919972
hi zoomer

good try sounding like you know music.
>>
Can I just nominate the entire stomp clap hey genre? I know it's "in" to hate on that now but I hated on it during its prime too. So all the memes and hate are completely warranted.

it's not though. it's so slow paced and ballad-y. listen to it again.
>>
>>129920872
>Honestly, this trash and all the other wine aunt self-help anthems that sounded exactly like it
That always existed. Go look in the /mu/ in 1975 thread and you'll find a few like all those Anne Murray tunes. I'd even go further back to say Peggy Lee's Black Coffee was the birth of the format.

PARTY ROCKERS IN THE HOUSE TONIIIIGHT.

That song is a crime against humanity.

Get Lucky is just so shit compared to previous Daft Punk hit singles. never mind anything else Just boring basic bitch shit. A crime that it's their last album
>>
>>129923752
you are so fucking stupid
>>
>>129916471
Everything Bad Bunny desu as a latino you couldn't escape from that guy and to this day I don't miss hearing "ella e callaitaaaaaaaaaaaa" all the fucking time.

At least for some of the 2010's hits you could say they were silly even if they were overplayed, but Bunny is just unbearable
>>
>>129917125
that one was cringe kino, it was just silly and I don't think its popularity lasted that much to begin with
>>

You're chronologically challenged, ignorant or weren't politically conscious if you think wokeness wasn't already visible in the era of Tumblr, Gawker (and all its former subsites), XOJane and God knows what else in tandem with peak slacktivism like #YesAllWomen, #ShoutYourAbortion and other insipid Twitter-based phenomena.
>>
Also, the first BLM riots happened between 2014-2015 in the wake of Michael Brown, Freddie Gray and Eric Garner. Of course, all three were greatly dwarfed by what would come by the Summer of Floyd in 2020, but still...
>>
>>129924046
Don't forget about Stevie.
>>
They're not all from the 2010's, but every single 'Flo Rida' song I can remember was absolutely terrible.

most of them
huge step down from the 00s. i think no max martin had a lot to do with it

Uptown Funk was the worst piece of shit to ever be in top 40 and Mark Ronson is a talentless hack

the whole fake indie trend of ~2012-2014 was the worst thing that ever happened to pop music and the groups that capitalized on it (Mumford and Sons, The Lumineers, The Paper Kites) were all trash and hopefully feel deep shame

and seconded on Miley Cyrus, the moment she stopped making white girl music and tried to be all indie and edgy she fell from grace never to return
>>
>>129916471
kys Can't Stop the Feeling is one of the only good party songs in history
>>
Happy and uptown funk are silly, vapid songs but I never hated them. Surprised gangnam style hasn't been posted yet lol.
I think we can all collectively agree on dance monkey. Genuinely unpleasant to the ears.

Happy would have been tolerable in small doses, but being as relentlessly overplayed as it was for years turned it into nails on a chalkboard. It's also a song that's frankly beneath Pharrell's talent as an artist, so that Despicable Me money must have been the bag of a lifetime to get him to make that slop.
Uptown Funk was and is legitimately good. Not a huge fan of Bruno Mars normally but his voice did fit that song like a glove. I've liked Mark Ronson since Here Comes the Fuzz and I'm kind of surprised that Uptown Funk and Valerie are still his only mega-hits.
