The one time I’ve found these CDs for cheaper at B&N than my local record store. Mellon Collie was $15 with the discount, whereas my record store charges like $20 for new pressings of old and new releases.
>>129933104I guess 15$ is alrightbut I thought CDs were considered trash I guess its over
>>129933104I wouldn't pay more than $5 for those albums
>>129933276filtered by unc core
>>129933104You will be hard pressed to find anyone cheaper than Amazon these days.
>>129933364I haven't bought music from a physical store in years (albeit mainly because the nearest record store is 45 minutes away and mediocre)
Every local store is vinyl-only. CDs are now in the ash heap of history. Sad that it’s either $30 per album or AI-driven algo slop.
>>129933967thats why you have to gather CDs for cheap
>>129934012This. You have to hunt for them though because there's a LOT of shit.
>>129933967nuh uh my local store is 80% CDs but they do have Mr. Bungle on wax for $40
Bump
>>129933139Zoomers have learned about cds and its their new fav format. Cd sales has been on the rise the past year
>>129933104what is the point of CDs? you are wasting your money
Latest stuff. New Poison the Well fucking rips and Moz's latest is a solid 8/10
>>129936553People enjoy the format. That's all the point people need. What's the point of you shitting on someone else's hobby?
>>129936595it's objectively stupid. sorry
>>129936624It's objectively stupid for you to come into a thread dedicated to a format you hate to shit on said format
>>129936669format sucks. save your time and money
>>129936954cheaper than vinyl
>>129936977vinyl has a purpose. it provides different mixes/masters that you don't typically hear on streaming. it's sounds a certain way and is an appealing ritual even for normies. it's also a legitimate piece of furniture.
>>129937007vinyl is dogshit, nice cope for spending thousands on hardware that can only play back music at a fraction of the quality that can play CDs loser
>>129933104Adjusted for inflation, that's breaddy gud.
>>129937045CDs have digital files. you're listening to the exact same music that is on Spotify and Apple Music. There are no extra mixes. It's just a small piece of plastic that wastes money and space. Blind nostalgia without purpose
>>129937098streaming music over the internet is not the same quality as the files straight from the CD being played over speakers lil pup
>>129937177it is. there's zero audible difference.
>>129933104That's a shitload for CDs, most of the ones I find are about $5 or $10 and they're early masters, which is why I buy CDs in the first place. I've picked up a few West German target CDs too since most music stores don't give a shit about CDs and only focus on vinyl.
>>129937177Streaming has higher bit depth (potential) than CDs. If anything, it sounds better (but realistically, there's zero audible difference). lol
>>129937177It is, since Apple Music offers lossless and also 24bit lossless, which is more than you can get from a CD (and is pointless for casual listening desu). Spotify has lossless too now I think.
>>129937355>>129937370enjoy your nothing bozos
>>129936954Get a life
>>129938015That wasn't your point retard, your post was only about the audio quality.
>>129937098>>129938015Why do you faggots care what other people do with their money and how they spend their time? There are a dozen arguments for any format being retarded and pointless. You're not special for being some obnoxious shithead who tries to derail threads.
>>129938056nope. Collecting CDs is retarded and there is no argument in favor
>>129938098Begging you to get a life and stop sperging out about a format you hate
Buy CDs and download MP3s. Streaming is for retards.
>>129933967In my city we have a few used record stores and most of them are mostly vynil but one is mostly CDs and they are doing good business, lots of people coming in. I would say mostly genxers and millenials but I saw some zoomers too.
>>129938098I like owning my shit and vinyl is a pain in the ass
>>129936954You are too young to be posting here
>>129938135>Three 6 Mafia Based
>>129938056I was having a nice time talking about CDs then some fags had to start shilling for streaming, I think you should direct this vitriol their way, this is a physical media thread not a media rental thread
>>129937007CD also provides different masters than you here on streaming and often more options than vinyl. Vinyl sounds like shit, it is objectively and measurably inferior, and degradation is inevitable. Sorry you sunk money into a dead format.
>>129937098You don't even know what your talking about. First, streaming services are largely using remasters where availble which I always avoid when buying CDs. Second, most albums have many masters just on cd.
>>129938162Think you replied to the wrong dude, anon
>>129938193he was replying to me when I talked shit on the streaming shills, those guys are detailing the thread, not me I'm a CDguy
>>129938199Got you. I'm a CDguy too. Might have read the other reply wrong. If so, my bad. I didn't mean to talk shit.
>>129938148You still own them when you download them on ss. What are you trying to achieve by paying for plastic?
>>129938162I buy used CDs for $1 and also use streaming.
>>129936553What is the point of any hobby? It's fun. Do you only do productive things, little pissant nigger?
>>129938439Cooked em
>>129938439Not a real hobby. CDs are obsolete, if you want to collect music, get vinyl.
>>129938682no because im poor and I want to collect a lotI'll never collect vinyls, get over it
>>129936524sad but I guess it makes sense. can get a whole artists discography on disogs for like 15 bucks sometimes. definitely beats spending 40 bucks on a new vinyl lol.I hear a lot about how zoomers are getting sick of doomscrolling and are trying to ditch phones and shit, but I really have no clue how big of a thing that actually is. I look at literature shit on youtube a lot so tangentially I see stationary porn shit and end up with some zoomer ditches phone bullshit too
>>129938700Zoomers aren't buying up CDs anymore, they're too much hassle. There was a brief TikTok movement where they were buying CDs, books and other shit but realized how annoying and expensive dealing with old tech is. It was a fad and died off after a few months.
>>129938722can't say I'm surprised. I'm not a zoomer hater like most millenials, I think they can be aiight, but they're definitely fried from tiktok and shit
>>129938762There are plenty of normal zoomers, it's really just the TikTok and streaming (Twitch and Kick I mean) ones are that are absolutely fucked.
>>129938775I had a zoomer roommate at my last place and she had some friends sleepover one night and they spent straight up like 1.5 days straight watching a V-tuber on the TV while all scrolling tiktok endlessly. They passed out there and woke up and continued. It was one of the most fucked up things I ever seen lol
>the only way these threads can get replies is through braindead trollingSad.
Just had notification of Squarepusher's Kammerkonzert being shipped. Let's hope Warp haven't fucked up the manufacture yet again.
>>129938135>Mystic StylezpeakDiscovered that along with 2 Low Key's Test My Nutz and Lil Noid's Paranoid Funk just a few weeks ago and been having those on repeat.I always thought the instrumental for Da Summa was original to Devin the Dude's 'Anythang', always loved that track (and Devin in general, mad underrated)https://youtu.be/RaMb8_QjuVo
Some stuff from the thrift store.
>>129933104>Over 20 dollars for a CDHow the fuck is that even possible? They weren't even that expensive when CD's were actually relevant. Surely the point of buying CD's is partially that they are so cheap now??? I have shit loads of CDs from when I was young but I exclusively buy vinyl. I've been thinking about getting a CD player and buying CD's just because I assumed it is cheaper than vinyls
>>129933104Imagine paying money for the censored version of Is This It
>>129938682No thanks. I don't care about the Funko pop of music formats
>>129940587A lot of them are out of print. Even well known albums. The format is gaining traction. People are wanting to physically own their music. I feel lucky that I never stopped collecting and gave away my favorites because my area of interest has prices that are crazy now
>>129940587I explicitly remember paying that much in 90s and that was 90s money. CAD but still.
>>129938722My local record stores are full of zoomers, and I’m in a large east coast city. This is blatantly untrue.
>>129940227lmao you actually listen to bonnie raitt?

>>129942938RASTA live forever GL x
Some recent thrift store finds. Still extremely cheap around where I live. Stand out buy is The La's. I'd only heard the famous single before (There She Goes), turns out the whole album is great.
>>129942957Cheers ras>>129943150>Las>Clannad>Cranberries >Emergency on Planet EarthBased overload, and a rare store frequented by more than geriatrics
>>129940642yeah, along the lines I was thinking
>>129943150Good selection there. That La's album unfortunately has a bad place in my memory because the first time I listened to it, I had to phone the police because there was a guy driving erratically in front of me for miles. IIRC they never caught him. Will need to listen to it again to clear that memory.
>>129943150That Cranberries album is great. Alexander O'Neal is a great pickup too. I like his debut more but Hearsay is also solid. Guy had an unbelievable voice.
>>129933104I hate that stupid album art. What comes over bands to always change their most iconic album covers to something gay 20 years later?
>>129944804>What comes over bands to always change their most iconic album covers to something gay 20 years later? That was how it was released in the US. You can see the release date (October 9 2001) on the store label.>For the American market and the October 2001 release, the cover art of Is This It was changed to a psychedelic photograph of subatomic particle tracks in a bubble chamber. The image first appeared on new age artist Bruce Becvar's 1988 album The Nature of Things. The same image appears on the cover of The Scientist as Rebel by theoretical physicist Freeman Dyson. A portion of the image also appeared on Prince's 1990 album Graffiti Bridge. >RCA product manager Dave Gottlieb commented that "it was straight up a band decision", while Gentles indicated that Casablancas had wanted it to appear globally. According to the band's manager, the frontman phoned him before the Japan and Europe release and said, "I found something even cooler than the ass picture." At the time, the original photograph was already at the presses and was included in the July and August 2001 versions. The Strokes' 2003 biography mentions the fear of objections from America's conservative retail industry and right-wing lobby as reasons for the artwork's alteration.

Thrift finds today$1$5,$5 cadWas holding out on let it bleed, knew I would find it. Marty Robbins was nice surprise and I don't mind some white zombie.
>>129933104Bought Goo and Dirty from B&N, actually.I hate that children are ruining CDs now. I've been collecting CDs the entire time vinyl was a meme and now I have to pay over $10 for shit.
>>129938135Effigy is weirdly expensive on CD, so good for you
