WE ARE SO BACK edition

Howdy! /cmg/ is THE thread for discussing and sharing country music, bluegrass, country-folk, country rock, etc. All country is welcome, new and old, mainstream and indie, as long as it's good!

Your Last.fm listening charts are highly encouraged!

Feel free to drop any recommendations below, no matter the subgenre (but please do attach subgenres to it!). I am in the long and intermittent process of compiling updated recommendation charts, so your contributions will be very appreciated.

Help me out making a playlist. I'm throwing a cowboy-themed event and know little about this genre. Here's the slop I've put together so far:

>Sturgill Simpson - Long White Line - 4:02
>Johnny Cash - Folsom Prison Blues - 2:43
>Link Wray - Rumble - 2:27
>Ella Langley - Weren't for the Wind - 3:13
>George Strait - Amarillo by Morning - 2:54
>Lone Star - 3:28
>Billy Strings - Hide and Seek - 9:27
>Ella Langley - Choosin Texas - 3:52
>Jamiroquai - Space Cowboy - 6:26
>B&D - Neon Moon - 4:23
>Tyler Hubbard - Dancing in the Country - 3:00
>Sturgill Simpson - Ain't All Roses - 6:45
>B&D - Boot Scootin Boogie - 3:20
>Chris Stapleton - Tennesse Whiskey - 4:53
>Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire - 2:36
>Marty Robbins - Big Iron 3:58
>Mountain Man - Dirtwater - 6:27
>Ella Langley - Dandelion - 4:01
>Darius Rucker - Wagon Wheel - 5:46
>Alabama - Dixieland Delight - 5:23
also looking for country music recs in general, my favorite artists are
>squarepusher
>nick reinhart
I'm trying to find country musicians who do experimental guitar sounds or just unusual sound design in general. Sturgill Simpson was recommended but he's not very different than the other pop slop in this playlist.

Waylon Jennings spammer here. Check out his album "Dreaming my Dreams," very sparse, spacey guitars, and his pedal steel player, Ralph Mooney, has the eeriest style, it's almost like a theremin.

This is a Hank Williams cover, this part of the album is one of the best three song runs in the history of music (not to oversell it).

Turnpike Troubadours might be what you're looking for. Good Lord Lorrie and Every Girl is good shit.

Finally a thread I can get behind. I’m getting tired of the jamgrass horse shit. Tie dye does not belong in bluegrass and needs to promptly fuck off
