I'm not trying to sound like a pretentious tryhard, but I've been thinking lately that this might be Swans' "definitive" album in the sense that it ONLY sounds like a Swans album and not like anything else. Even with something like SFTB which is an intensively creative album has a traceable lineage to a lot of different movements and influences and even self-referential retreads and reworkings of ideas on previous projects, whereas pic related keeps some of Swans' industrial ideas in the fold with the rest arriving almost out of nowhere. It's a rare album I can honestly say doesn't sound like anything else I've ever heard.

>>129949409Definitely. You could already feel it in Greed & Holy Money, but here is where her and Gira began to start gelling together. You could argue that the post-punk records to come synergize even better, and personally I think The Great Annihilator is the best Swans album for it. Children of God is a respectable second place though.>>129954975I think she's got some features on The Seer, but didn't return as a full-time member.
