Does a singer / band vocalist need to be able to play an instrument in order to be respected?
Yes. Either composing the music or playing an instrument (rhythm guitar is not an instrument) is the only way for someone in a band to get my respect. Writing lyrics or singing don't cut it

If they can carry a tune and or dance a little bit they don't even have to be a lyricist. They need that voice of gold. A rare one that can write, sing and play can make a serious case to go solo.
