was spengler right about western music??
is it truly the most faustian art that strives towards the infinite??
>>
We reached the peak with LMFAO Sorry for Party Rocking, and it was clear music had nowhere to go but down from there

>megalopolitan art
lole
>>
Nobody here listens to music or reads.
>>
>>129967247
Can you explain this to me OP? It's out of context and I don't get it at all

western art, and hence music, contains more than the piece itself
the impressions it evokes more than the artwork itself
western music mediates between the listener and the infinite it evokes, instead of merely existing as a work in itself
for classical music on the other hand, the contains itself and itself only
classical man had no sense of depth, no sense of something greater behind the works themselves
to them, everything, including art, were self-contained and individualized objects that existed in themselves
there was no background in which things exist; only foreground
for him, man was the center of the world-as-nature; static and become, and hence complete
faustian man on the other hand is the center of the world-as-history, tumultuous and hence ever changing. ever striving outwards towards the infinite

He was a mystic who was wrong about literally everything, shouldnt we be living in an age of kings by now according to him?
>>
>>129972130
his predictive power was weak sure, but what's wrong with his analysis??
>>
>>129972130
No. Spengler never wrote about an "age of kings" ?

And Spengler considered oil painting as the peak form of Faustian Art
>>
>>129975819
i assume they meant a modern day czarism with that post
>And Spengler considered oil painting as the peak form of Faustian Art
tbf he said so because of how ``musical'' western oil painting was
>>
these kinds of books are the biggest wastes of time. makes me question the judgement of people who take this shit seriously.

people like spengler and evola to an extent are basically ur-incels. losers for most of their lives that made a lot of scathing criticisms and predictions (many of which turned out wrong) about society all because art forms they didn't like were springing up.
>>
>>129967247
Western music, both classical and modern, actually has a tendency to lean more towards drama than transcendence. Indian Classical, Gamalan, and certainly the musical chanting of various Eastern religions, reflects a more deliberate attempt to connect with "the infinite" than Wagner or Beethoven.

Don't get my wrong, I love classical music, but that except from Spengler is just ego-driven, nationalistic hyperbole typical of Germans at that time.
>>
>>129985856
>t. never read either of them

>>129985924
>has a tendency to lean more towards drama
wym
like narrativity or are you invoking dramatic structure specifically??
