How shit would their later output have been if Jim and Jimi didn't die?
>>
i think they would have survived the 70s but the 80s would have eaten them alive, then they would have gotten a bump from 90s 70s nostalgia

I like how Janis isn't even part of this conversation anymore
>>
Idk but if Tim Buckley survived hed have had another experimental masterpiece
>>
>>129969990
Jimi was an actual musician who could play an instrument unlike Jimbo who just ate everything in sight and repeated whatever gobbledygook his CIA handler told him to
>>
Wasn’t black Jim going to collaborate with Miles Davis?
>>
Jimi could have gone trash metal or no wave
>>

>Jim Morrison and Jimi Hendrix famously jammed together on March 7, 1968, at Steve Paul’s The Scene club in New York City. The impromptu session was notoriously disastrous due to a heavily intoxicated Morrison, who shouted obscenities and rambled, resulting in a poor-quality recording often known as "[Morrison's Lament]" or "Woke Up This Morning and Found Myself Dead"

Jimi would have made more great records, he was in his 20s and just getting started.

Jim was already becoming a fat slob who enjoyed eating chicken more than making music
>>

>who enjoyed eating chicken

You're confusing Jimbo with Bono. Jim ate burgers
>>
I think Jimi could have dried out, Morrison no.
>>
Wasn’t electric lady studios just recently completed when jimi died
>>
Jimi goes jazz fusion I feel
>>
>>129969990
Jimi would have gone fusion in the 70s, maybe even dipped his toe into new agey stuff before going full spandex, coke, synthaxes and jheri curls in the 80s. Then rehab and back to bluesy basics in the 90s for some big nostalgia stadium tours reunited with the experience

THIS, BONO IS THE TRUE CHICKENMEISTER

Bullshit

>n 1970–1971, during his legal troubles in Florida, a bearded and heavier Jim Morrison was spotted at a Burger King. He reportedly ordered two Cheese Whoppers and a malted shake

>“I did meet Jim Morrison once,” Patti explains, “Just once, it was the early 1970s, probably around ’70s and they used to have press parties for rock bands and sometimes the rock bands would be there and we never had enough food so I would go to these because there was lots of free food so I would go to these bring a bag and just take the food because I didn’t really like the parties.”
“The Doors party was cool,” she continues, “Because they had all these long tables with all the food and then you went into the party, so the food was first.
I had this big bag and I’m getting all this food for me and Robert [Mapplethorpe] and I hear this voice going ‘the Hamburgers are really good too’ and I look and way at the end, sitting all by himself was a guy and it was Jim Morrison.” - Patti Smith

And those are just two examples. Jimbo was the Whopper King. Deal with it

thanks, bro

It was over for Jimbo, he was all depressed and burnt out by the time he was in Paris. The Doors wanted to go on without him.
>>
I really don't want to imagine Hendrix putting out a disco album or horrible 80s pop with synths and giant drums. Maybe it was for the best.
>>
>>129973025
who?
>>
The Doors would've kept going and dabbled with Disco a little, faded, then the Val Kilmer movie comes out and they have an epic comeback tour

Hendrix would still play but he'd be like BB King and Buddy Guy. Shit ton of concerts a year because they're just that much better live than in the studio

>then the Val Kilmer movie comes out and they have an epic comeback tour
its funny, Val had the same built and frame of Jim, but facially he didnt really looked like him. Jim never had droopy slanted eyes or a toothy, wide mouth.

The only reason that movie was made because of Jim's death and the whole mythology that boomers propped up about him around that time. That's why Kids In The Hall even made a skit parodying that attitude. If he never died then The Doors would probably have a cult following but otherwise just known as another 60s psych band with chart success at the time
>>
>>129982591
I dont think it was Mythological really. Morrison really was the top frontman at the time. The Doors really could've reached the legacy that the Stones and Zeppelin did into the 70's but then Miami happened. They WERE that huge and had that potential.
