I'm certified chopped Pitchfork Unc status, but I saw Grizzly Bear perform at Sasquatch music festival right before this album was released. It was already a wildly anticipated album in the indiesphere, with a few singles already released (P4K actually gave "While You Wait for the Others" the last 10.0 rating for individual songs before they stopped doing that). I was thrilled getting to hear these new songs live.

After the set, I went to the merch table and they had the CD for sale. So my buddy and I bought it and listened to it on the way home from the fest, before it was officially released. Amazing memories.

Grizzly Bear were one of those 'academic' indie bands where the members were far too individually talented to just keep making blog-worthy lofi music. It all kind of culminated with this release. This shit meant so much to me as a 19 year old in 2009. Just simpler times, when a buzzy talented band could still make waves. It's a great album, even still.
