There is zero reason the strokes were hyped up as amazing. They aren't, not even a single song rises to the level of 'good'. What the kids call a plant or a hype conspiracy seems like what happened here. If you have grown up and never heard of rock music and then you hear the strokes music, you might be fooled into thinking it's good, but there are other better rock bands, in fact, most of them are far better.
