Why don't you care about Trents new album?
I don’t care for his old ones either. NIN never clicked for me.
>>129997705im not 17 anymore
The fact that its just old tracks remade with electronic dudes is kinda whatever
>>129997943They sound much better thoughever.

>>129997956No they don't. For example, in both Closer and Heresy, the details in sound/melody in both tracks have been substituted with 2020s BOOM BOOM BOOM TSSS TSSS TSSS
This is just the Coachella gig with overdubs. And badly mixed.
>>129998757>when theres a bass and drum machinegrow up unc it sounds better

>>129999059Yeah nobody thought Heresy or Closer was weak the former is especially heavy as fuck, that album was a titan of the industrial genre in the 90s
>>129997705Not on Spotify
>>130000427yeah, in the 90s.theyre weak nowadays
>>130000495Yeah and you haven't lifted more than 5 lbs of weight working out since 2008.Big daddy Trent with his manly hairy python arms could lift you and throw you over the balcony of a stadium you weakling turd hahahaThis is electronic industrial metal music for powerlifters who eat pussy for breakfast with milkTrent Reznor is a straight edge hulk adonis ready to throw you like a paper airplane

>>129997943>The fact that its just old tracks remade with electronic dudes is kinda whateverThis. I thought it'd be new music, he quite literally said "New Material"When it came out that it's just some Coachella live recording and then studio versions of the live remixes, all my hype for it was gone. Will Trent ever release any new fucking music that isn't a rehash of his prior shit?
the remixes are good but the crowd noises interspersed through the entire album are extremely gay
because hes been washed since hesitation marks. Once an artist becomes washed you can safely ignore the rest of their work forever. Once you lose the spark you dont get it back
>>129997977im curious what Closer will sound like in his direction and thats about it for my interest in the album
I thought his live set was great but I guess we all hate it now. Didn’t we previously say it was his best concert ever?
>>130004979>Didn’t we previously say it was his best concert ever?Coachella? I haven't heard it until the official release tonight. It's just Trent compensating for his old and worn out voice. His mic mutes whenever it gets to a note he can't do, and the vocals from the original song replaces it.
>>130004979idk form your own opinions jfc
>>130003277>Will Trent ever release any new fucking music that isn't a rehash of his prior shit?all he's done after 1999 is shit, and he must be aware by now. so there's just no point
>>130006371>all he's done after 1996The last good thing was the Quake 3 soundtrack, which ofc liberally uses FLA.
>>129997705It's good. It's exactly what it says on the cover. Also the Coachella show was awesome
>>130004756The EP trilogy was good though, maybe even great
>>130004990>aging artist is able to accept his own physical limitations and decides to go in a different directionHoly based Trent. Wish more artists did this to save themselves from embarrassment
>>130004990I saw him live and he had zero issues singing. If anything, he sounds better now than when he was a nasally teenager.
>>130004979I thought the Peel it Back tour was the best I've ever seen. Sure he's getting on and Cortini was taking a large bulk of the vocals but it was the most put together live show i've ever seen from them.I also really like the Boys Noize mid set, but the crowd were fucking geriatrics trying to keep still for their atrial fibrillation monitors.
>>130007376I guess it is pertinent that although he can't do anything remotely powerful anymore if we're being honest Trent was always an extremely limited singer.
Should have been called Nine Inch Males
>>130009254Nine Inch Boyz
iam guy who has an original key from one of the smashed keyboards from the fragile tour on his shelf.i cannot believe what bullshit he does by now. the mediocre tron ost is official nin. a colab with a fucking dj is now official nin.listening to this right now and i remember that remix site he ran years ago. there were fan remixes which were better than this.this record makes me sad.
>>130009995shut the fuck up unc
>>130008850Nah, I saw NIN in 1995, when Trent was at his absolutely creative peak and was still brimming with angst and energy. It was the same vibe as the Woodstock set, just less mud. I saw them on the Peel tour, twice, and nowhere near as good as the TDS era.
>>130010146>unc
>>130010186hes still in his TDS era thoughbeit
>>130010220He still recognizes TDS / Broken / PHM are his hit makers (since they still make up a bulk of live shows) but the violent edgy angst is gone. Even the way he sings now.. throwing in 'WOAH' and 'YEAH' and 'HEY' in between verses, like hes fully embraced being an old dad rocker and hes just having fun. Vastly different than when he was full of no nonsense hate and heroin and you really felt like he wanted to smash a keyboard over your skull.
Was never a fan and this collab wasn't danceable enough
>>129997705Because he hasn't put out anything good since the 90s
>>129997705I enjoyed it a lot, but then again I love ebm and the like. It's a good take from old songs, Trent and company know they shit about making good remixes. I could dance and jump through the whole record/set, it accomplishes its goal.
>>129997705OINE?
>>130010296>uncthis. i aways cringe when the WOAH and the HEYYY
>>129997977dancers are cringe ouch. cool set tho
>>130010756Nothing is as cringe as his Hesitation Marks tour live sets with three Black Womyn backing
>>130006813>shit is based exdeeIt's hardly a step removed from pop "singers" lip syncing over a pre-recorded vocal track in "live" performances.
>>130010784If they're putting in hard choreographed dance work no-one cares if they're lip synching. That's my view with the singing, yes he's kind of half hearting the singing these days but you're seeing a crazy amount of stage production.
>>130004756So when was your moment of truth that ignited that spark that gave your creative career the extra leverage inspire fans to shell out their cold hard fought cash to sell out shows?Post your bandcamp or some song you madeYou'd nearly kill yourself trying to draw a stick figure
nin was one og my favorite bands growing, but i didnt really care for their releases post with teeth and also dont listen to the old albums that often anymore.I really really like this new one. It is a bit bone headed and no new material but the production an sounddesign is super polished. Its a great album for working out, having sex, doing drugs. Tho I have never done any of those things in my life.
>>130010815>Its a great album for working out, having sex, doing drugs. Tho I have never done any of those things in my life.
>>130010815Average NIN fan
>>130010814I am literally a professional portrait artist (picrel) and guaranteed far more skilled than you are. And if I had no skills at all it doesnt change the fact that the nigga been washed for decades. I don't need to be a michelin starred chef to know when something tastes like ass.
Im an oldhead fag but I still think Year Zero was his obvious peak.
>>130011362his peak obviously was pretty hate machine
>>130011362I do still think TDS and the Fragile are his best, but Year Zero is right up there with them. fantastic album.
>>130011339I'm not the guy you're responding to but posting that isn't helping you. Your work clearly shows you have no understanding of the forms you're describing, so let's take it easy on the "far more skilled" talk.
>>130011339Don't get me wrong, that's a good drawing and I'd be impressed if a friend did it but it's really not a great example as a supposed professional. Also is it the view from an anus for a vore commission?
>>130011661>>130011674go ahead and post your work anons, I did. Unless you're a scared, no talent faggot of course?
>>130011763I actually do paint landscapes as an intermittent hobby and I'm obviously not going to upload any for perpetuity. Last thing i need is more identifiably on a site that's about to be banned in my country. As i said im not going to rip your drawing when it is good, it's just far from professional.
Jokes aside, I understand why Year Zero is considered such a great album, and people also shouldn’t forget how far ahead of its time the whole online roleplay experience was. But personally, it just doesn’t resonate with me emotionally in the same way. I still like it, though.I’d say Trent at his raw artistic peak is The Downward Spiral, but conceptually The Fragile is the stronger album. I also find The Downward Spiral much easier to listen to. I can put on individual songs and just enjoy them. The Fragile, on the other hand, almost feels like work to get through at times. But when I was an angsty teenager, it really did feel like entering another world.I understand why some people make fun of NIN or find them cringe, and to be honest, some of the lyrics on The Fragile really do sound more like they were written by a 14-year-old than by a grown man. Still, there are definitely worse bands to get into when you’re 13 or 14. And listening to NIN also opened a lot of doors for me to explore other genres.
>>130013030NIN cringe is 99% due to the fans. Trent himself has put out some cringe lyrics and media but he stopped around With Teeth and has been pretty normal from then on. Year Zero has probably aged the worst out of his albums. It's not bad but it really is mid-2000s glitchhop.
>>130013085production-wise YZ is kind of meh and definitely showing it's age, but there's some really strong songwriting in there imo. like nothing mind blowing, but it's filled with great hooks. I don't think it's as strong an artistic achievement as TDS or the Fragile, but it's probably the NIN album I just throw on to listen to casually the most. also the "cringe" lyrics of 90s NIN has always been part of why I liked it so much. Trent could be edgy, but he was raw. he was earnest. people are afraid to be that authentic anymore because it doesn't sound "cool" or "mature" enough. like yeah there's some angst in there, but I think people are lying if they say those feelings just disappear entirely as an adult. I have to be in a certain mood to listen to those albums, but I really appreciate how he was so willing to just bleed his feelings onto the page without any shame.
>>130013246I don't think the vast majority of his lyrics are cringe. Being vulnerable or messy isn't cringe - but particularly PHM had some contrived shit lyrics.
>>129997851Exactly this. The single Heresy literally sounds like a teenager yelling about religion bad. Grow up. TDS got that midget shook.
>>129998034You fucking mental midget, the point is it would be edgy if he screamed about Allah. Neeeeeever happen because TR's a pussy like you.
>>130014171True but Allah wasn't exactly relevant in the 90s. Plus I always took his seething about god more as part of exploration of his own depression and relation to the world rather than a reddit athiest takedown of christianity.
>>130014171the thing is Trent's religious angst isn't directed at religion as a concept or the Church or anything like that, it's an anger towards God that you can't have unless you actually believe in God to begin with. it's a Jonah-esque frustration at God, not some attempt at an atheist takedown.
>>130014343>>130014503both obviously factually wrong
I listened to some of this and i think it's mediocre. The tracks don't seem particularly transformative, don't improve on what already exists and don't even have a cool glitchy electronic sound. It sounds like someone just smashing on a circuit bent speak and spell over a NIN track or playing with a bunch of filters. The whole thing feels like a waste of effort. The Health stuff worked better
>>130014171Every '90s rockstar was whining about God though, not just Trent.
>>130014820I definitely think they could have had more fun with it.
>>130014820I hate NIN but like these remixes so its improved
no thanks not for me some of the lyrics read like a siphon life spell, angst isn't the right word. im a big fan of his social network soundtrack though
It’s good just wish they’d put in the remix for sin

>>129999000Holy fucking checked>>129999682>>129998839Holy rekt
>>130000433Wrong
>>130011339What everyone else said plus you have shit taste if you didnt like anything from hez marks, yr zero, or the EPs. But then again, being a portrait artist in 2026 says it all
>>130011763Props for nutting up and putting your stuff out there but genuinely curious someone would bother drawing realistic portraits when cameras exist. If Warhol didnt make it clear, that whole style is dead. However if its just a cheeky hobby, more power to you
>>130018434its studio, they just thought its cool to add crowd noises in random parts. dont ask me why
>>130013338>but particularly PHM had some contrived shit lyrics.I never believed his "journal" explanation for the cringe lyrics. he was always a try hard and inauthentic. he was always insecure however, and managed to make that insecurity "sexy" and "edgy", alas that part doesn't work when you're no longer 14.what's left if that monumental work of musical arrangement from the 90's, which stemmed from his obsessive insecurity. once he stopped being that obsessive he also became mediocre and self-referential.
>>130004715It's literally just studio versions of their live remixes from their recent tour. Does /mu/ not go outside?
>>130018544warhol was (literally) a gay, retarded kike and a fraud and so are you if you think a portrait painting's only value is recording a likeness. it's a white people thing, please try and understand.
it flopped
>>130019728It's fucking over NINnies.... Trent needed this win to eat...
pitchfork loves it
>>129997851Adulthood must be a drag for you thenNIN helps me keep going through the demoralizing destitution of perpetual unemployment at the hands of an economy manipulated by Zionist JewlordsMcdonalds won't hire you unless you go to their university firstUnless your brown or "ethnic", which is a marketing term for races that somehow have more value to society than why peepolMacklemore is only an ally with blacks because he doesn't want them to use them as their token raciss white manInstead he uses his white guilt to emphasize with a struggle that apparently his Jew Irish privileged inheritance goes against
>>130018389It's fucked to think that Elvis or The Beatles seemed absolutely ancient when i was a kid. My neighbour would watch Lost in Space and The Three Stooges and i thought that was anachronistic. If i think about it, the distance between me being a kid and Elvis is the same as Pretty Hate Machine and now. I wonder if Zoomers or whatever is alfter Zoomers see it the same way. Getting old sucks
