The 50s themselves sometimes thought they were entering their idea of futuristic with the "Atomic Age" + an explosion of more appliances, advent of TV, more and more sci-fi in entertainment (see The Day the Earth Stood Still soundtrack), new curved shapes to everything like cars, or the invention of the Fender Strat.
