>rip-off Smashing Pumpkins, HUM, Failure, Quicksand and Helmet>profit
>>130008707And yet they don't sound like any of them. The power of innovation and a great vocalist.
*saves Shoegaze by inserting goated american 90s influences*
I know this is bait but if you have to list a synthesis of 5 different artists to call someone a rip off you're already retarded
Love this fucking album. BEST DEFTONES ALBUMAlso, NOT NU-METALNEVER WAS NU-METAL
>>130009267Its obviously nu metal and that's fine because nu metal is good
>>130009319how It's typical Alt metal
Fucking DUMBASSES Nu-Metal incorporates Hip-Hop in their sound. >Linkin Park and Limp Biscuit being the poster boys of the genre. Fucking RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE is closer to Nu-Metal than fucking Deftones. FUCKING BEASTIE BOYS are closer than fucking Deftones. This album has ONE OR TWO SONGS that VAGUELY USES MINIMAL record scratches and everyone calls it Nu-Metal. Fucking SCRUBS
>>130009442>Nu-Metal incorporates Hip-Hop in their soundThis is true but so did Deftones. Back to School ring any bells?
>>130009482Like I said. ONE OR TWO SONGS THAT VAGUELY USES THE INFLUENCES.
>>130009442This is factually incorrect. Lots of nu metal bands never used any hip hop elements. You're ignorant.
>>130009499Chino is full on rapping on that song.
>>130009523That makes them not nu-metal. Like how everyone calls Deftones Nu-Metal despite NEVER actually being Nu-Metal
>>130009539You're wrong. This hip hop thing has never been true. Making this claim makes you sound very stupid.
>>130009530If every song was like Back to School I'd give it to you. But that's the only song that has Nu-Metal influences. Maybe even Elite too with the record scratches.
>>130009575Enlighten me then fag. What is Nu-Metal if not Metal that incorporates Hip-Hop influences?Alt Metal is gonna be whatever you describe
Nu metal was always goodDeftones is nu metalEvery nu metal band has at least one kind of outside genre influence so none of them sound the same
>>130009604A simple wiki search could answer that for you. I grew up listening to nu metal, I know all the bands, and plenty of them have no hip hop in their sound. It's a broader genre than your incorrect definition.
>>130009826I have to agree, there was just too many nu metal bands who were based around one gimmick i.e. we mix guitars with rap vocals, but Deftones did a lot more, hence they stood out but they are still inherently nu metal, even if Chino denies it.
>>130009915>Instead of explaining and revealing I'm wrong. I'm just gonna tell you to look it up yourself bro. >Trust me. I've been there. I know all the bands (lists none)
>>130009915>>130009941Did the search for you tho
>>130008707>band has influencesTruly shocking shit
>>130009960Wikipedia version too. Just like you said
>>130009915Bro, this is no better than the online fags saying "Just look it up" or "Do your own research" after MAKING A CLAIM with no said source
> nu-metal band covers obscure Cocteau Twins B-sideOK with me
>>130009960>>130009989>>130009915So tell me faggot. What is Nu-Metal if not what fucking Google and Wikipedia described what I described
>>130008707>rip-offyou misspelled "perfected"
>>130009960>>130009988>>130010053It doesn't say "metal with hip hop." There are several elements listed. It doesn't say what you described. Your understanding of the genre is erroneous and your reading comprehension is terrible.
Note how Hip-Hop Hop is the FIRST and usually MORE PROMINENT descriptor. Yes, it can have the other influences listed but it having DJ Turntable elements/Hip-Hop / Rap is what's the USUAL DESCRIPTOR for the Genre. You would be more incorrect for getting rid of that Hip-Hop descriptor than getting rid of any of the other descriptors (such as Funk,Grunge/etc).
>>130010128It literally says heavy metal with hip hop. Last time I checked, heavy metal is metal.
>>130010156So you acknowledge that "metal with hip hop" is an incomplete definition of the genre, and other bands that don't incorporate hip hop also fit within it. You're better for having done so and I commend you for admitting that simple truth.
>>130010168Hip hop is listed, but it is only one example of the influences within the genre, and bands that don't use it are still considered nu metal.
>>130010218I agree with you, anon. I'm just saying. That's literally what it says though. I don't even know why you included me in the other post either.
>>130010198Your reading comprehension is even worse. I never said it COULDN'T have other influences. But it needs to have at least HIP HOP influences to be Nu-Metal. >Linkin Park Hybrid Theory as example Poster boy album of a great Nu-Metal album. Incorporates every example of Nu-Metal including Hip-Hop/Rap/Industrial/ AND GRUNDGEBut HIP HOP IS THE PROMINENT INFLUENCE
>>130010265>But it needs to have at least HIP HOP influences to be Nu-Metal.Once again, completely incorrect.
>>130010498Nope, until you give an actual argument and not just say"You're Wrong". I'm actually correct.I've given examples and even the fucking dictionary definition. My work here is done until proven otherwise.
>>130010528Nta but there were a few, like Cold, that didn't have rap elements in their music. Never got the nu metal tag for them. They were most just goth alt metal. I guess the Fred Durst connection did that to them.
>>130010557They're not Nu-Metal. They're closer to classic Grunge. >Stupid Girl>Suffocate>Gone Away>All of the Year of the Spider album is just Grunge
>>130010617who even uses the word Grunge unironically it’s not a genre
>>130010617I never thought they were personally but they were lumped in by everyone else it seems.
>>130010528The dictionary disproved your claim. Your awful reading comprehension strikes again. Coal Chamber, Static-X, Skrape, Staind, Chevelle (early stuff, not the buttrock era). All nu metal, zero hip hop. You're wrong to say hip hop elements are necessary to be considered nu metal. It's never been true.
>>130010646
I was a young teen when "nu metal" took off and KoRN, Deftones and Limp Bizkit were the big 3. Deftones never really took off like KoRN or Limp Bizkit. Korn was my favorite band for their first two albums and I've grown past being embarrassed by that. The whole Adidas/Puma wigger image sucks but their music was amazing
>>130010654All these bands are OTHER SUBGENRES of Metal or Alt Rock THRASH METAL / GRUNGE/ PROG / ALT ROCK/ etc.
>>130010693Korn was always embarrassing as fuck to me. Even back then. Fieldy might be one of the worst bassists of all time. Preferred Limp Bizkit.
>>130010714This is blatantly untrue. There are elements of industrial and other rock in their respective sounds, but they are strictly defined as nu metal bands. You've been wrong from the start and now you're in denial. It's not anything of which to be ashamed. You didn't know, and now you know.
Is Slipknot nu metal? Which albums?
>>130010714Staind's first two albums are nu metal staples
>>130009442Rap Metal and Nu Metal are two different genres.
>>130010860Yeah. First one. Iowa has some rapping but not as much. No clue about their later shit because I stopped listening
>>130009347This is literally the album with back to school
>>130010685Not a genre. It’s a marketing thing. Not even a scene.
New poster here… nu-metal was pretty damn close to hip-hop… https://youtu.be/9QWOc0HnItMhttps://youtu.be/VAWjsVoDpm0https://youtu.be/2eu--4eb8X8
>>130011504Grunge is punk influenced hard rock with a singer who belts with distortion
>>130008707Linkin Park for girls
>>130013012Linkin Park is already exclusively for little bitches of all genders.
>>130012976No it’s not
>>130011840White Pony is not nu-metal. It's between Alt Rock and Alt Metal
>>130009267they only got the nu-metal label because they were from southern california around that time
>>130015926Why not thats a a pretty good description
