how do you guys achieve a sound separation on your tracks?for example, im listening to BoC's TCH and the drums cut through the mix, have their own space, synths have their own space, and all the leads jump up from the track like they are visible on their own, they have their own spaceis there anything more to it than just EQ-ing?

How do you get good at this shit? Is it a matter of just making tons of songs? Or do you like reverse engineer songs and sounds you like and combine them? Like realistically what do I need to do every day to improve?

Whenever I build a drum kit or chop up a new break to save, I EQ out all the unnecessary bullshit on each sample so I don't have to fuss with it too much later when I'm actually coming up with musical ideas. Ofc gotta do more EQ once you've got the whole thing laid out but it helps a lot to nip it at the source

i finally figured out how to get reaper to ignore windows 125% scaling, we're so barack. upgrading to reaper 7 has been mostly painless though they changed some default like not loading a blank fx window and it instead goes straight to add new fx. easily fixed
